302 manifold vaccum fitting

Trying to clean up and eliminate any potential failures that can cause a problem. I noticed on the manifold it has a (05) port fitting and (04) of them are capped/plugged with a rubber cap. I know these become brittle and crack in time. Would it be recommended and do they have a fitting with only (01) port?

The port that is connected with a rubber hose to a hard line for the transmission. There is no size marked on the hose, what size port fitting do I need?

Thank you everyone in advance for your time/help,

Sonny

I think they are 3/8" npt thread. Take it with you to ace hardware and buy a brass nipple to put there instead.

don't use rubber caps use the colored vinyl ones they hold up better. you can also solder the fitting.

Will you ever run a vacuum brake booster? The larger 3/8" port is for a vacuum booster.
If not, and you for sure only need the one small port for the auto trans modulator, then like said you could take the whole "vacuum tree" down to your local supplier to find a thread-in single hose barb of the right size.

Bringing it with you gets rid of any confusion and also gives you the exact sizes.
Or you could measure them, but I prefer part-in-hand trips to the store myself.

X2 with rubber they will crack in less than a year and you will be chasing a vacuum leak. Been there done that.......:)

I just replaced the vaccum booster with a hydroboost, still in the process of finishing up the install.

What are these colored vinyl caps that are mentioned? Are they available at the auto parts stores and do they come in different sizes?

That's why I am trying to clean up the look and remove any possible parts that can fail.

Thank you for the replies.

Got mine at AdvanceAuto......

I use them all the time. They work great for capping the ends of brake lines when doing brake work......

Thank you gr8scott. When I looked those up, this also came up. Are these the same material? I like everything to match (all black). But if the different color caps are better I will get them.
