Does anyone know what length belt is needed to run the explorer system on a 351w without the AC pump or better yet have a part #? If not do you know how much to subtract from the string measurement to account for tensioner pulley?

I want to say with the 2 different sizes of idler pulley available on the lower passenger side, Any answer is simply an educated guess and maybe a lucky win. My local NAPA known me and belts. Start with a string measurement, try, return, try the next. Get a list of sizes and part numbers and when the first doesn't work you can guess if you want to try the one ½" or ¾" shorter next. I count on a minimum of 3 trips to get it right.

I did not know about there being two different pulleys. I'll take your word for it. I wanted to just order one online but I'm not going to order 3. I think your Napa might be better stocked than mine. Hopefully, they will surprise me for a change.

This was the advice I was going to give but I bought 3 at a time and just returned the ones I didn't use saving a trip or so. the part number usually gives clues on belt length (6k870 = 6 rib belt 87 inches long... ) for those who may not know.
Good luck, you are going to love the front dress upgrade. :)

The only reason I know of 2 different idlers is the 302 people found one clears the crossmember better than the other.

I got someone to hold the measuring tape tight while I held the tensioning pulley back to the new belt mark. Came up with 85.5". I'll start there and see what happens. Thanks, Guys.
