351W waterpump swap

Have a 351W in a '76 project. Block numbers say that it is out of a '69 or '70 Fairlane or Torino. The water pump is drivers side intake. What water pump should I look for to make this passenger side intake? Would be able to use stock lower hose if I can make this swap.

I have a 69 351W in mine as well. I went to the local parts store and asked for a water pump for a 69 Fairlane and the intake is passenger side.

the stock 302 or 289 front cover will fit on the 351. you will also want to use the 302 harmonic balancer to keep the timing marks and the same side too. otherwise you may not be able to see them.

An additional consideration with switching water pumps is relocating the timing pointer on the timing chain cover.

Thanks for the water pump info. Don't know what I am going to do about timing this engine yet. The balancer has no marks on it at all. Iwill try the '69 fairlane route for the water pump. Many unaswered questions until I can get to work on it. Bronco is right behind the honey-do list from hell. Sure I am not alone with this problem.

BC offers a bidirectional water pump in their serpentine setup. I went with the whole kit and didn't have to mess with the harmonic balancer. Thit kit comes with a four bolt adapter for the 351W.

the waterpump would probably work with any setup. I'm not sure exactly how it works. i thinkit just builds water pressure and lets the coolant follow the path of least resistance. Either way, it takes the guess work out of the water pump game.

OOps:-[ slip of the fingers there. The kit doen't have an adapter. The main pulley has a four bolt pattern to match the four bolt 351 balancer
