4R70W or 6R80 for Coyote?

Been working on a Coyote build for about 2 years. I have a rebuilt 4R70W tranny ready to install - but I'm wondering what the collective thoughts are now that the gremlins seemed to be worked out of the trans controller for the 6R80?
If anyone has experience with both and can compare, it would be greatly appreciated. To swap for the 6R80, I'd need a new tranny controller and adapter to Atlas - and the tranny of course.
Also - does anyone know if you have to use a floor shifter vs column shifter for the 6R80?

You dont have to use the floor shifter, but its the easier of the options. Nickm1024cobra just sorted out the linkage for his truck to get the 6r80 to column shift. One of the big reasons people go with the 4r70w is because of that problem. Also they make the brackets to run twin sticks on the 4r70w, and it currently isnt available for the 6r80. If you have that tranny already, run it. I just grabbed the 6r80 because it was married to the coyote still and it was dirt cheap.

Ok thanks. Since the Atlas t- case is twin stick, how do you sort that out with the 6R80?

You already have all the 4R70W parts, just use them. While I consider the 6R80 a better transmission, but not better enough to start over again on collecting parts.

I hear ya - the only way I would consider is if I can swap out and exchange the tranny, control pack, etc - all came in the Coyote package from BC Broncos.

Does the ecu control the 6r80?

The USShift controller is pretty cool. You can do all sorts of neat things with it. I am glad i went that route.

So what way did you go? I'm contemplating either a 4r or a 6r for my next build behind a 347 or 408 stroker.

If you don't already have parts, I would just do the 6r80. The 4r70 was recommended simply because he already has the parts
