I have put a 4r70W from a 1994 F150 into my 74 bronco, since I have an aftermarket steering column, there is no overdrive switch on the shifter.I am looking to see what other bronco owners have done for an Overdrive selector swith and also, which wire do I tap into on the transmission to do this???

I used a traditional 3-speed C4 shifter with the 4R70W. At first a Lokar floor shift and later converted to a stock column shifter.

I had a little console that I put some switches on, one was for the overdrive.

There isn't a wire on the transmission to control the OD.
The wire for the switch goes to the transmission controller. You didn't state how you are controlling the transmission so we can't say what wire that would need to be.

With the US shift all you need is a mom switch, it can be as small as you like it.
Depending on how often you will use it, maybe find a spot on the column or dash.
It ties into the controller as suggested.

Same is true with the explorer efi.

So could you put the momentary switch inside the floor shifter housing? Maybe in the rear so you could just bump the switch with the shift lever?

If that is how you want to fab it.

The controller can be set to either momentary or switched. That is either a button you press to turn it off, then press again to turn back on.
Or it can be set like a light switch. As long as the contacts are closed, the OD is off.
It is in the setup.
