So aparently my search skills dont work on this subgect. What can i use for a intake manifold with an explorer efi system? Should i go Fitec? i would like to stay multi port. What hs been done looking at a 400+ inch 351 making big power. Just lost a cam in my 331 and ate the engine,

A ford lightning 5.8 lower, I think there's a couple aftermarket options too. I'm going with the Holley sniper so I stopped researching it.

There is a thread, 20 questions for stroker owners, that will give you a bunch of advice. The big rule with that thread is you have to have had the engine running for a year before you can comment. So you are dealing with dialed in combos and not first impressions.

Lightning lower with explorer upper and a 1" spacer is what I am using. No issues, was definitely an upgrade for my Bronco.

With the lightning/explorer intake and no spacer there is about 1 1/2" of interference with a stock hood.

Depending on the Tbody you use. I used the one off an 97 Exploder and the TPS hit the hood. I just scooped it and moved on. Wasn't a hood worth saving anyway.

Good point. My experience is with the shorter 96 throttle body/TPS.

I'm using the marine version of the Lightning lower. Maybe it's different height wise from the truck version?

The aftermarket trick flow stuff is tall, here you can see how far over the top of the firewall mine sits with a 1" body lift. The edelbrock stuff is shorter if you go aftermarket.

I have a 2" Body lift, motor has the WH extreme motor mounts which did raise the engine up a bit, an old Duff hood bubble, and the early explorer throttle body, so I had clearance.

Any chance you can take a pic from one side to the other, right at fender level. Trying to judge how high it sticks up...

Anybody know how the Edelbrock, Trickflow and Lightning manifolds stack up against the others? Wondering how they perform airflow wise...

I have the Lightning piece right now and love it. Just wondering if I would love the others more... lol

Found it for sale while pounding through 100's of adds. Guy in St. Louis had it. It had never been on a boat. Lived it's life in a Mustang.....

I see them from time to time on FB and CL.......eBay too.

As far as I know they were cast from the same patterns and machined to the same prints as the aluminum ones.

Figured they were......

I'm running stock motor mounts, 1 inch BL. 96 roller block with marine lower, no spacer just gasket and Explorer upper with a 97 Explorer T-body and it would not fit under my hood. The T-body TPS was the issue but even after cutting the hood the cross member hit the intake so I had to trim it.

A 2 inch BL might have worked.......

I don't know how some make it fit under the stock hood. i must be missing something if the marine is the same as the truck.

Maybe my Bronco is just an oddball...LOL
