Also currently just running open headers so I'm sure I don't have happy neighbors.
Your EFI is probably none too happy either.
The O2 sensor doesn’t know whether it’s coming or going.

Tomorrow should be a maiden voyage to let the ECU do some learning, the motor finally starts without throttle & idles smoothly. I’m waiting on a hood from bronco design so I’ll be doing some ECU logging with the top off. :)

I ended up going with a lightweight RAM aluminum flywheel & aluminum ATI super damper & the motor revs very quickly. Also running braided lines from the front wheels to a T fitting I tacked to the house with a tab. I still have to do some F/R tuning with the proportioning valve.

Dropped the plug gap from .050 to .040 because of some light missing.

Well boys, took my mom for a cruise today on a special birthday. The cam is extra spicy & the heater isn’t doing much. It’s a 185 thermostat & the air coming out of the blower is moderately warm. I think I have the rev limiter set at 4k during the breakin, excited to see what 7k feels like.

Looks fantastic going down the road!
Now where's the sound of that new engine!

I have a couple electrical issues I'd love input on -

Factory gauge cluster isn't lit up with the lights on & it appears all the gauges except the speedo don't function. Fuse panel looked okay.
Second, the right turn signal flashes externally & on the gauge cluster, but the left side doesn't flash.

Any thoughts?

First on the gauge lamps. Did you make sure to turn the rheostat up all the way? Try both ways just to be sure? Are you using LED bulbs or standard incandescent?
How is the electrical system overall? All new, or all original, or a mix?
Did you retain the body ground from the battery to the fender? Did you add an additional one between the back of the engine and the firewall?
Does everything else work so far? Heater, hazards, horn, etc?

With the battery negative disconnected, remove all fuses and wipe them clean. Check the contact springs/clamps for corrosion and if ok put the fuses back in. The only fuse in question here is the smallest one in a stock fuse panel, but this procedure is a good thing to do with glass fuses every couple of years anyway.

For the gauges not working, check for power with a volt-meter on the back of the cluster at the input section of the Constant Voltage Supply / IVR (instrument voltage regulator) to make sure you're getting power in on the Black w/green wire.

That's a start anyway. Let us know what all else you find.

Appears you are at the "working the bugs out" stage. That can be a pain, but hearing that thing running again should keep you motivated. Nice work!

Paul,

Yep, I the first thing I did was knob both directions to see if I could get the cluster to light up, no bueno. Standard bulbs, it lit up before I pulled the motor three years ago.

Pretty sure its all new Centech, but it's a mess. The only place where its relative clean is in the engine bay.

Ground from battery to fender is gone, I have a ground from the block to the frame, frame to battery, alternator to battery. Heater turns on high only (I have a new switch sitting in a box). I don't have a hazard switch or horn wired.

I'll check the rear end of the cluster tomorrow. In the centech fuse box, the dome/cig lighter fuse has shorted out & is blowing fuses. Not sure if that is on the circuit w/ the cluster. When I click the high beam switch the bulb lights up in the cluster.

Sounds like music to my ears! Are the neighbors aficionados of Concerto #408 by Bronco? 😁
haha, I may have one fan on my street...I think the rest are likely tired hearing it. I want to get a custom stainless setup welded up w/ an h-pipe & a pair of chambered mufflers. Something like a 40 series flowmaster.

On the Centech, there's an external fuse under the steering column that manages the dash lights - check there. It's like a 5a inline fuse.
