Yes, I used these on the rear end of my trail rig, along with the Ruff Stuff housing. Used the Solid Chebby kits for all the outers. The flanges worked well, but there was interference with the disk calipers. Had to grind down the flange so they would fit. Not a big deal, but thought the bevel in the flange would be designed for disk brakes. That was early last year, maybe they have fixed this.

a lot of guys use 14 bolt spindles and press/weld them into the ends of a cut off housing. The hubs can also be re-drilled to fit a 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern. Seems to be the cheapest way to go about getting a full float set up but still a lot of work.

You can also use 14 bolt spindles with GM Dana 60 front hubs. The only difference is very small on the overall length, but not enough to be a problem and gives you the option of any bolt pattern you want.

I've also used those parts and been happy.

I didn't know the 14 bolt spindles were interchangeable with the Dana 60 front stuff. good to know.

The seals are different I've always turned the seal surface on the 14 bolt spindle to the Dana 60 size. There is probably a seal that will work but I've never checked. I originally started doing it to get 5 or 6 lug hubs and double spline axles so we could get 300M but now RCV makes a drive flange for the 14 bolt for double spline it mostly eliminates the reason to make the conversion as long as your happy with 8 lug.

Tawl_boy Thanks for the pic. Yeller more great information. Thanks. I like the idea of having all of the parts the same for the front and the rear, bearings, hubs seals spindle. I guess I would have slugs in the rear and locking hubs in the front.

Slugs in the rear is pretty standard, I even take it a step further and use the factory 1 ton brakes all around. If the rear is too heavy, I install an adjustable bias valve like the dirt track cars use but in a trail or race vehicle that stays in 4 wheel drive all the time its a non issue and you have lots of brakes.
