Hey Guys -- thanks for all the kind words. I'll try to keep you updated. Here's a couple of pics from today. We left Rockwall, Tx Saturday at about noon. We drove straight through to San Diego - about 23 hrs. We had dinner Sunday evening with a new friend from Reeves racing, and then hit it hard this morning. First stop was to get the racer inspected by Bill Savage, the SCORE tech guy. The first pic is Bill posing with us in front of our newly inspected Class 3 racer! It passed with flying colors, so we were off to a couple of other places for some last minute issues. You'll see a pic of Mat Peritte (MP on this site) He met up with us Sunday night and will be hanging with us the entire trip. He's working on our breather, trying to get more air to the intake. Then we find out his sister works for Red Bull, and she sent over a couple of Red Bull girls to give us 6 cases of product!! That's Matt on the left, and my racing partner John on the left. In between them are those VERY nice Red Bull girls. How cool was that???

Take care all -- We head South tomorrow!! Hopefully I can scrounge an Internet connection and let you know how it's going!

See ya -- Scott

You passed Savage's inspection - that's the toughest part :).

Ok - we started out the day neediny to resolve a few last items on our punch list, so our friend Rich Reeves (Reeves Racing) hooked us up with a shop his son works at. We hauled the racer over to Armor Craft and they gave us full use of their shop, including their CNC machine. Man, the people involved in this sport are terrific! Anyway, we shot down to the border about 11:00 a.m. and had zero problems crossing. They initially made us pull over for inspection, but somehow a $20 bill made it's way to the inspector and we were told to go on thru! ;) Here's a pic of our boys at Armor Craft. Then a shot of the last toll booth before you get into Ensenada. We got tired of passing taquerias, so we stopped at this one on our way to the new base casa. Matt scarfed 6 fish tacos!! After we rolled out of there, we headed over to our casa and unloaded. We then organized everything and reloaded the truck/trailer. Check out all the spares/tools etc!! Then we went and bought groceries and sat on the back porch and enjoyed a couple of cold cervesas! We were thinking we were all that until we looked down from our back patio and saw the Pfluger race van! man, we were humbled.

OK -- gonna run because they are charging me by the minute! %)

Take care -- Scott, John and Matt.

We did some finish up work on the racer this a.m. -- but we all had a little case of Montezuma's Revenge, so we were moving a little slowly! :-[

We went and picked up a drum of fuel, and filled our portables on the trailer. That's John and Matt (MP) doing the work while I take pics! ;D We'll be pre-running for the next couple of days, so we'll burn plenty of fuel. The racer gets about 4 mpg:cry:

We took the afternoon "off", and went sightseeing. I included a few pics for those of you who think that Baja is only desert. It's truly a diverse place, with some beautiful scenery. These shots are just across the bay of Ensenada in a little town called Bufadora.

Next post should have some good shots of the actual course during our pre-running with Reeves Racing. Chuck should be near LaPaz by now since they started pre-running Sunday. I haven't heard from them, but expect to soon.

Thanks again for all the support and kind words. I hope these few pics let you somehow share in our adventure.

Scott

We woke this a.m. to find the Baldwins and Riverera teams had landed on the beach outside of our casa. We then loaded up and headed for Ojos Negros for some pre-running. We ran on the course South of there. I had my first crack at , cough, cough,, Silt Beds!! The little Bronco was just awesome. I threw it in 4x4 and hit the pedal -- couldn't see crap, but never let up. The Bronco dominated the silt!! We also hit some pretty steep goat trails, which were no match for our Bronco either! We did have a slight problem with the tranny heating, but we figured out the cooling fans were blowing rather than sucking. Problem resolved! I got it to about 75-80 on some of the straights, and it handled great. I won't lie..it was a "little" spooky going that fast on such unstable road, but it was a blast!! Cam Reeves led the way on his little Honda and had a flat about 20 miles in. He rode it with the flat rear for a long way, but we finally ditched it in some scrubs and he loaded in the Bronco. We got to the highway and hauled ass to the checkpoint where Matt was waiting. We then went back with the truck to retrieve the Honda. I was a great day for the Bronco, and we're stoked for next Thursday to get here!!

We ended the day with a cold margarita and a hot shower -- which we really, really needed!!;D

Here's a few shots from today -- no special order -

Great Pics! Love the action shots! Keep em coming when you can. You doing a full pre run or no? You sure got an ugly crew there. What happened to the Red Bull girls? They were a prettier bunch, and I'm sure they could turn a wrench or two. ;D

Yes.....I meant a wrench. Get your mind outta the gutter! ;)

LOL! I had intended to have some video, but I flaked out and forgot to plug the camera into the recorder! %) Hopefully, I'll get some in the next day or so. We're not doing a full prerun. Only portions of the North. I couldn't take that much time off from my job (which I need desparately since I started this adventure! :-[ )

My crew might not be pretty, but they are studs - and I wouldn't trade them for anyone..(hmm..red bull girls, huh??..well..maybe I'd trade Matt! ;D ;D )
