Quick Update --

We determined that the tranny overheating was due to the fan on the derale cooler not working. We spent a couple of hours looking at every part store and fab shop in Ensenada for a replacement, and finally found a fan motor that we were able to use. Chuck showed up last night, and we went North this a.m. for a great Sunday Brunch at "La Fonda's", which is about 25 miles from Ensenada -- great outdoor dining on the ocean. He and his team had a good pre-run all the way to La Paz, and are in good spirits. Me and my guys spent the day replacing the cooling fan, working on GPS stuff, testing radios, wrenching on every bolt we could see...and we did a little grinding on the frame where the axle housing was hitting a little when we bottomed out. We also couldn't help ourselves, and grapped a hose and washed the racer! ;)

Chuck and Patrick just left, and we're about to head for a dinner in Ensenada. Sorry -- no pics -- but Chuck and I are running the first section of the course tomorrow and I'll snap some then.

Take care all -- Scott

We hooked up with Chuck today, and pre-ran the first portion of the course (from Ensenada to Ojo Negros). Man, the first 15 is ridiculous!!! First time for SCORE to ever run this route, and it's gonna eat some guys up. We made a few miles in the SuperDuty, but turned it around and John and I climbed into Patricks EB with Chuck, Roxanne and Patrick. Yep..5 people in an EB prerunning, and it was NOT comfortable! :-[ -- But we had a blast, and I got to meet Sal Fish in person. Here's a few shots of our run today, along with a couple that Chuck gave me from his pre-running South. It's getting close, and we're getting excited. We returned from the Pre-run to find more members of our Old Horse Racing Team that had arrived at our Casa. They'll be rolling in over the next couple of days. This is an adventure I hope you all can experience at some point in your lives!

Take care -- Scott, John, Chuck and the entire Old Horse Racing Team!!

LOL!! yeah, he's real nice. I missed the money shot though -- I gave him one of our Endeavor Racing stickers, and he put it on his SCORE truck!! Very Cool, huh?
Here's a few more of Chucks pics..

Today we ran the first section of the course again, and it's a good thing. Apparently the Trophy Trucks whined to SCORE, so they took some dozers in and cut some roads. Too bad, because our little Bronco would have dominated that stuff! Oh well..

We had a beach landing of sorts by the Monster Truck Team. Holy crap, you've never seen so much $$$$ in off road vehicles! They have over 100 people on their team!

We also had the rest of the Old Horse gang show, along with Chuck's racer. He wouldn't let me post pics because he wanted to make a few changes. It looks great to me!

My boys from Sunray showed, along with the guy who painted our racer and the new editor of Bronco Driver mag. It's a full house now -- here's a few pics. Enjoy.

Also -- Thanks for all the replies -- I'm not responding to each because I'm charged by the minute for the internet access!!  But I'm reading and smiling, so keep 'em coming!

Today was contigency. It's hard to explain, but think "Fiesta". The kids are out of school, and it's a realy party. We lined up at about 8:30 a.m., and it took us 4 hours to get through the inspection line. People are fighting for our autographs and stickers, and for a day we are all rock stars! Here's a few pics, but it just doesn't do it justice. Final shot is of my signing my SCORE sheet right beside the McMillans. Baja is a level playing field.

This is my last message until LaPaz, because tomorrow is Race Day. I hope Chuck and I are drinking a cold Cervesa Sunday night having earned the 1 and 2 spots.

Take care --

Scott

Just making sure everyone has the link again to track the racers if they want. Go to this link http://www.irctracking.com/ click on the view here button, enter the racer numbers 302 (Scott) & 349 (Chuck) in the slots at the left side and you'll be able to track our progress.
