Need to check the oil pressure and local mechanic told me to unscrew my oil pressure brass temp fitting, and screw in a gauge to test it. Can't seem to find a gauge at any parts stores, so I was thinking of making one so I can use it now and put it on the shelf for later tests. Anybody made one? Where is the best place to find the gauge, fittings, etc? Thanks,

You can use an ohmmeter with the electric sender if you calibrate the resistance to pressure curve first. Or hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge.

the automotive type gauges will be cheaper and more than likely if you cant find one of them you'll have a harder time finding a real test type guage. But yes you can make a test gauge. I recently make a setup with quick release fittings and flexible hydraulic line. once a fitting is installed on the engine its quick and simple.
Some parts store will have standard mechanical gauges they just dont put them out on display you have to ask for them.

You can get a mechanical gauge at any home depot or ace hardware. Don't look in the automotive isle, go to the pnuematic tools. Same gauge used for an air compressor. I think Ace will have it in the plumbing section.
