Axle shaft shim??

Upgrading my dana 30 to disc brakes, when I took everything apart and cleaned it all up I ended up with only one of what appears to be a ?brass? axle shim, for all I can tell it should go in between the outer axle shaft and the spindle. So the question is should it just be on one side of the axle and not the other or did I misplace one (I was very particular about parts and don't think this is possible).

Thanks ahead of time

That is a combination seal retainer and thrust washer for the axle up against the spindle.

The replacements are plastic..but either way, it needs to be there.

The originals were brass. New material is plastic.
Chamfer goes toward the U-joint, smooth side toward the spindle.
