My 75 Bronco needs a new motor and to get it back on the road and not break the bank, I am looking at a Blueprint basic crate motor. I am running an AX15 5spd so the new flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch should bolt right on but my concern is the clutch linkage because it’s a later model block. Scott Drake makes a conversion kit but has anyone used it and what are your thoughts? Another concern is the oil pan. The original pan will be used but what about pickup tubes? Below is the link to the motor I want buy so any feedback would be great. Thanks.

My 5.0 roller was similar, ATK build with no clutch bar mount. Made my own bolt on bracket and put it in. Several thousand miles later no problem with anything. Can’t comment on the pan, it came with their double sump pan and I have plenty of clearance so left it alone.

Clutch linkage is a minor thing. Easy fix. Nearly every vender has the bracket to get around that.

Engine balance is the tougher one. Your accessory drive won't work on the engine the way it is delivered. You have 3-bolt accessories, new stuff is 4-bolt. No, not just new holes, offset changed, etc. If Blueprint will supply a correct 3-bolt damper in late balance (an aftermarket part that Ford never made) you will be good in the front. Flywheel, that will be wrong as well. Your early flywheel won't balance out correctly on a late crankshaft. If you need a new flywheel anyway, not a problem, they do exist, and it was a factory part in the 80s. But don't expect to reuse your old one.

Those are the big glitches and what it takes to overcome them in your plan. The damper/accessory drive actually have multiple ways to get around it, but I think I suggested the cheapest.

Blueprint motors are 50oz imbalance. As said above your flywheel is prob 28 oz. also call blueprint and tell them you are putting in a bronco and they will put the correct pickup and oil pan on it. They did on my 331 for me.

Appreciate all of the great info. My flywheel is a 164 tooth, 28oz. I am going to call Blueprint and see about that and the oil pan.

The same clutch is used in the NP435 in the trucks and the 3-speed in the Bronco. The NP435 swap will plug right into the 3-speed clutch. So if you ask for a flywheel for an F150 with a 4-speed manual transmission and a 302 engine (has to be a 302, not a 351, it matter for this) you should get the right flywheel. I would go mid 80s as the 90s started going to the Mazda 5-speed as the F150 manual transmission.

Looking forward to helping, and glad to answer any questions you have.

We do offer engines with both the 50, and 28oz configurations.

Crank spacers are pretty common and inexpensive if your front drive is a different spacing.

we can also assemble with the correct oil pan for you.

just give us a call and we'll set one up just the way you need it! thanks for considering us!!
