That one had a few issues that any Bronco owner would see right off. I was shocked at the $45K price....not that it wasn't nice, very nice even, but not as nice as those to cross the block this year in overall quality & attention to detail.

Things like paint runs, misaligned panels, lumpy seats, cheap accessories, etc., bother me & were surprisingly common on some of the stuff that's gone through BJ in the past. Maybe this year they were pickier with the EBs. Still, there were plenty of other "lesser" vehicles with issues sitting under the tents (would you bid on anything that had a drip tray under it collecting oil as it sat?)....

I saw the black one go for $40K. I dont recall what the specifics were on this one as far as drivetrain up-grades. That being said, I am guessing that the builder probably broke even...but they didnt make a ton. I guess it does show that Broncos are finally getting some props. I will say that I did see a couple of vehicles that I thought were good buys--for what you can see from TV. I hope the seller is happy with the $40K for the black Bronco; hopefully, he will come back to the thread and let us know.

to of quick hammer IMO

I tell, you guys I have watched a lot of Barrett over these last couple of years and I thought dirwin's truck got a quick hammer compared to other vehicles. It seemed like it was up only a min and 1/2 while a 65 white Mustang about 12 vehicles earlier up there forever! With the Mustang they were begging for money more and still only got $28k for it. The 67 was up there climbed quick then the hammer went down. Didn't even roll it on the ramp going out by the big screen and pressure and more possible bids. I don't think he got a fair share of time on the block as other's did. I'd like to see how dirwin feels about auction and if he was happy with his turn.

I know some of you think $40 is pretty good for that truck but with all the sick money that was flying round there the night before. I think he short changed. That truck should have pulled a little more then that. IMO Remember $40K minus 6% of sale minus about $900 for auction slot minus the 4 or 5 days of hotel, food, and travel. I don't know?:? I'm very interested on if he is happy with the final price?

I agree. I think they are pretty prejudice on EB's. This one is one of the few if not the first that they have showed being auctioned off. And it seems that they don't know jack squat about them anyway. %)

I too want to know how dirwin feels. ?:?

Why does it say on B-J website that it went for $44k? I saw it go for $40k.

The extra $4K is what the buyer pays Barrett. So, Barrett get a % from the seller and buyer.%)

Hey guys I taped the show and went back and watched close and wrote down some of the cars that went before dirwin's 67. Buy my counter on my DVD player I was able to check some of the auction time block time. I only counted once they started the bidding and stopped it at the hammer. Here is a couple that I tracked.

70 GMC custom truck got 2:35 min
51 F-1 Ford restoration 3:20 min and pulled only 28K they work to get there
65 Mustang Pace Indy Pace car 4:30 min they begged for ever it seemed to only $24K
51 Chevy truck 2:25 min for $35K
34 3 window Ford custom 2:20 min 39K

Dirwin's 67 Bronco only got 2:07 min and it went up to $35 quick then they said a couple of quick things then it hit 38 then rolled for the block to the ramp it hit $40K then the hammer. Most of the time once it hits the ramp use that to pressure the bidders a bit and give it a chance to work the price there. But they really didn't with his truck and a few other vehicles. What I don't think is fair why would give some car extra treatment then others. Yes, if there is a lot of bids the auction will take longer but Dirwin's truck sold for more then the ones I listed and his was the shortest of time. What's up with that???:? Maybe if he would have got 4 1/2 min like the Mustang his truck might have sold for more? I have heard from guys who have gone to auctions (Barrett included) that said if your a first time consigner you don't always get the best auction slots as a repeat would consigner. Maybe things are happening on stage that the TV coverage doesn't pick up. I don't know but hopefully he'll fill us in on what really happen there.

I would agree with that assessment and the 67 should have gone for at least 20k more

I'd have loved to see it bring more but with the group of buyers that were there, it wasn't going to. I actually feel good with the 40k when you consider that the red 73 consignment unit that was "dropped" in the sale Saturday night only brought 45k (another story as to how that happened) and that was a much nicer rig than mine. While the 67 had the 73 beat hands down in looks and paint finish, the 73 had the full compliment of current drive line mods and should have brought considerable more than mine.

Short hammer, no. Once it got to 35k which was pretty quick, it came down between 2 guys and only one was willing to go over the 40k mark, I know it because they both told me when it was staging. The problem was the buyers as a whole, there were a LOT of very nice vehicles that sold for 1/2 of what they should have. When you compare the EB's that ran against the rest of the vehicles as a whole, the EB's did quite well holding their own.

Nobody loves a black helicopter theory as much as me but I really don't think one was there. I do know that while I will probably never do it again, the Barrett Jackson Auction is quite the experience and worth doing once for sure.

Just my .02

Dave, I'm glad it worked out for you. Too bad it didn't bring $50K, I was looking forward to you doing 'Pants on the Ground' on stage. ;D I'll have to come by and check out the '71 sometime soon.
