Looks good. Mine was sitting on the axle when I got it. Makes for a harsh ride! lol I already decided that the floor is coming up a couple inches. I am practical to a fault and I love suspension work so I will have a couple more inches to play with than you do. Cool that you're making it fit with the stock floor.

I thought I moved the axle back enough when I "centered" it in the wheel well and looked at it. I will set the body back on before I build my rear suspension. Thanks for the tip.

Could I ask at ride height what is ground to the bottom of center of your rocker distance? Count the bottom rail or lip that hangs down. I have my ride height set within 1/2" at this point but it might move up or down a 1/4" after I actually install the front suspension.

Weight question.

Has anybody weighed a 2 WD 1/2 cab bare bones accurately?

I weighed 810 pounds DS front, 820 pounds PS front I'm 625 PS rear and 625 DS rear.

Can it really weigh under 3000 pounds without an 85 pound Dana 20 and a couple hundred pound ( I need to look this up) Dana 44? No DS either.

Thoughts?

I used a single post Scale that is supposed to be within 1% percent and I centered it in the tire front and back side to side to side. The entire vehicle was level including when it was sitting on the Jack so there was not any fulcrum issues happening.

Thoughts
If I recall correctly I was right around 2700lbs with a 4.6 DOHC Cobra engine.

I’m still not where I want to be. I haven’t touched the front coil overs yet…but I’m looking for more rake than setting flat. If I cut the area between the wheel wells and raised it even 1” I’d probably be good.

Yeah, I posted my numbers easier in the thread and I'm at 2950# w/5.0.
I have to cruise down to the grain truck scale when I get the chance. My calculations were somewhere around 2700/3000. It’s been a few years since I did the math.

3.5TT in Shorty?

Well, since I found out today that Ron Francis makes a harness to swap any 3.5TT into a different vehicle and all you need is any 2011 & later ECU.

Does anybody know if a 3.5 will fit under the hood of a Bronco?
HAHAHA!!! :) Got me Steve!

SO I am having the hardest time deciding between bags or coilovers. Big bags- not the RidetTech small ones. Big bags = smoother ride Excellent shocks help.

I would like to be able to change a rear tire w/o disconnecting a coil over - the plan is it's going to be a tight fit btw fender lip and frame- still reading up on handling issues with wide tires. (No real room for sliding the wheel off the wheel studs.). Maybe we bags I would be able to slide my floor jack under it so I can get it up high enough to change the oil??? lol

Bags get me UP for access where farm trucks need to go around our Valley (me included) and then get me down to ride height for smoooooth cruising over road seams, etc. Extra benefit is some day when I get old and don't play as hard or as long is that I can set it in the dirt. Everything that makes the bags work cost a lot more.

Coils can be dialed in for cornering ripping! Bags are getting better, much better than 20 yrs ago!

I have a frame, I have 2900#'s, I have big arse power, I will have a 6r, big brakes, Fatman frt end but not racing quality as I don't want that much "road noise" transferred into the frame, I've thought long and hard on IRS (but I have estimated my costs and the dream can only go so far) lol and appr 26" tires and narrowed TruTrac or Detroit???

IF my budget was doubled it would fun to build a "Big Oly" tribute build :)

Thoughts, ideas comments? Wish I had more pics but I've had sleds in the shop all week.
I used coil overs on all four corners. No issues with the front, only clearance issues in the rear. Im not giving up on that, but bags would be an easier thing to do. And you can choose your ride height.

jmhend-
20 gallons !!! lol
Make another one if I have too!

Ideas?

Steve sent me a good link for a tank and I need to see if I could squeeze it in here. I have an almost new stock tank but I don't like it for this build
I used a 16 gallon Tanks Inc EFI tank. It works well but I’m not liking the way it sticks out when you look at it from the back.

Looks like you've got a nice looking Bronco! I'm really curious how you could move the axle back 2 1/2" and still have the wheel look centered. I am moving mine 1 1/2" and I figure I'm maxed out... I haven't seen a straight on side pic but it looks good! :)

Be interested in hearing about how you planned it out and why. I think the "why" is important since we all have different reasons for the direction of our builds.

Be great to see more pics. Thanks
Here’s my dead end picture. Ran out of gas on the way back from the tuner.🙄

have you seen the 10r80 2wd for sale on here (In Washington)? Thought it would be perfect for this build.

I had a brand new 10r at my shop a couple weeks ago. All I had to do was give a friend some $$ for it and it was mine. Brand new Ford 10r.

There isn't a company out there yet that has a stand alone controller for it.

No way to shift gears on the 10r so I'm going with a 6r.

A 4r for as light as my hot rod is going to be and with 27 1/2" tires would work fine but I sold my last one that was bulletproof so rather than build another 4r to be as tough as possible, I'll install another 6r and be happy as heck! :)

Tell me more about this 10r80 trans. Would you have to cut into the floor/firewall to accommodate it? I love driving a manual trans. Of all of the vehicles that I own only one is an auto (other than the RV). If I end up going further with the supercharger installation, I may want to consider the automatic trans, if it can handle 450/500 HP.

I drive with my foot in this thing every time I drive it. I haven't drag raced it (yet), but I would if/when I have the opportunity. I also attend Good Guys on occasion and wouldn't mind running it through the comes every so often.

10speed (10r80) doesn't have a stand alone controller able to operate it yet. US Shift has been working on theirs for a several years. I offered to Beta test it but they aren't far enough along.

The 6r can easily handle 800 rwhp all day in stock form. I plan on 700hp at the crank in this build. I won't be able to put half the torque to the ground like I can in my '68 with 40"s etc but the 6r is very competent. I pound my current 6r. I was having to run dozens of tunes and data logs and with it I wash shifting at 5800 dozens of times/day w/o any issues... other than a flex plate grenading because of Perf Automotive's adapter design flaws.

The 6r clears the firewall but you will be creating tunnel space for it. It is taller than a 4r and of course are larger than any manual I know of for cars anyway.

Well, I decided to upgrade my steering and I'm ditching the std ps system and going with a manual rack and using a torque sensing electric power steering setup. Should be fun.

Be glad to get rid of the pump, hoses, bracket, twitcheness which is common with racks.

If I get some time, I'll get started back on this project... I bought all my steel needed for sectioning the front and the rear. WOW, no wonder Art Morrison's quote for a new frame with 2 bends was so freakin' expensive...

Currently replaced all the wiring on my car trailer, replaced an axle on it, sanding it down and prepping for 2 part epoxy primer and topcoat tomorrow am. Glad I'm not looking for a typical perfection job as the weather's not cooperating! : (

Gotta get ready for another 2,000 + mile trailer trip to Moab at the end of April. Then back on Shorty!!

SO, why not go with the 6R80? They have a controller for that trans, if I read it and understood it correctly. And, it has a built-in trans-brake. That sounds like a great option for my uses. I just have to talk myself into driving an automatic.

I am going 6r and posted up several times but somebody asked about the 10r and I had a brand spanking new Ford one available at my shop and was just checking (again) to see if a stand alone was available.

The benefit of the 4r & 6r auto over the 4 manual tranny's and 1 auto that I've installed in my same Bronco over the decades converted me in about one trip to town that this WAS the way to go- for wheeling and for daily driving. The benefits far outweigh any "manly-man" gotta have a clutch whatever... :)

What are the shifter options for the 6R? I was looking at some TCI shifters but would like something with a roll control button. Of course....it has to look cool.
