I had a posting up around memorial day about this. I tried to update that post but didnt work. (Lack of knowledge on my part)%)

Anyways, my clutch had quit working as if it was hydraulic and was running out of fluid. Well its mechanical. Everything that I could check without removing trans was completely fine.

I thought the pressure plate was the suspect but I got trans out today, removed bell housing and the stupid a$$ bracket that is riveted inside the bell housing that the clutch fork clips onto is broken.

WTF ???? what is the technical name of that piece and how do i fix that? Cant put bolts through a new one because the trans has to bolt up flush to the housing. i do not have a way to re-rivet that. Big a$$ rivets.

I have learned a few things about doing clutch jobs. I have done numerous ones but the things that have happened to me lately are nuts. I had a problem before of a real bad shaking on a take off. Found out the brand new flywheel was warped. Check flywheel even if its brand new. Saved a buddy with that one. he bought a new one also for his project, machine shop took 35 thousandths off it to make it true. NAPA just shrugged their shoulders.

Also check the dang bracket that holds clutch fork for fatigue !!! BEFORE REASSEMBLY !! you can see in pic #2 the new looking metal where it broke. it was half way done for who knows how long...

I had the rivets break on me once I was able to get some countersunk allen bolts into the bellhousing with the tranny installed. just had to grind the edge of one to get it to fit swapped them out at the next clutch replacement. As for the pivot point hard to say I dont think that one in the link is the correct one. this is what you need. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item56440d214c
of course for that price you could probably score a whole bellhousing.

Thats what it is. I found a bell housing for 50 bucks already but I am still looking. 50 seems alittle steep to me. I will check Ford to see what I can find.
