converting stock PS box to quick ratio?

I have a PWR steering box out of a 73 bronco. Can I swap the internals with another box to make it a quick ratio box? I know you can send it out and have it done, but I was curious if I can do it myself.

Thanks,
Joe

You can if you swap the worm gear and piston nut. Probably want to use the balls that came with the faster ratio piston nut too.

What box do I need to rob the parts from?

Any 800 series Saginaw box that turns the same direction as the Bronco box. The direction of the grooves in the worm and piston nut determine the direction and their pitch determine the ratio.

Go to a wrecking yard and find a box. Count the turns lock-to-lock and look at the direction.
