Fuel could be an issue. I had filled it with premium and used the marine stabil. But it has been almost 3 years. The battery will be dead. The carb could be gummed up but I bet it wont be. When I got it in the shed last time I pinched the gas line and ran it out of fuel as I was pouring some marvel mistery oil down the carb. I will get a set of plugs and a battery in town. There is more than enough anti freeze in it so I think Im good there. yes I will drive the u haul to the bronco first. get it running and then turn the u haul in. There are still a bunch of what if's and i am not sure this is a good plan but it gets the bronco home.

Fuel should be fine, I was thinking just parked as is.
Add a couple of gallons of distilled water to the list for radiator and conventional battery.
Once you have it running switch to the older battery, if it will hold a charge then you have a spare :)

Might want to do an oil change before the road trip, conventional motor oil that is run then sits can become acidic, cheap insurance to prevent trouble later.
If synthetic no worries.

Sounds like a fun trip, enjoy

Just do it! Life is too short and I bet you will have a blast! Gotta be someone from that general vicinity that is going to Super Celebration that could possibly team up with you. Hell I would if I were closer to that direction! Go for it! ;D

Several of these posts crack me up. It is obvious some folks have not been broken down on the side of the road thousands or at least hundreds of miles from home- We have been lucky over the years in our Bronco Travels. One trip to Moab resulted in a parts store in southern Co to get a steering box seal kit for a friend's F250 running with us on the way to Moab. Our stuff was fine, but his rig was down and out- cost us almost a day of vacation-certainly not going to leave him and say, "meet me on Pritchett Canyon when you get fixed and into town". You help anyway you can. The trip posted here is SOLO!!!

Sure if a person did not have a job, family or schedule to worry about have at it- I also know the op is more than able to fix stuff that breaks but why chance that- no substitute for a reliable truck and trailer. What happens if something lets go that has to be literally replaced? Walk to the parts store? Dial,1 800 replace my 40+ year old part-I know you have it in stock and oh yea, deliver it to me, I am on the side of the road in BFE!!
Reality check over, current time is 1245pm, temp is 58degrees, sunny and a bit windy-going outside to enjoy the beautiful afternoon

A flatbed wrecker is just a phone call away, worst case he would get towed to a u-haul and rent a truck and trailer for the rest of the trip.

If it's a well built and generally pretty decent driver the I wouldn't have any problems doing what he's planning, if it doesn't drive well and has lots of issues then I might reconsider or at least fedex a bunch of tools and stuff up there ahead of time.

Remember if you're broke down on the side of the road in a toyota camery 1 in 10,000 people will stop to help, break down in an early bronco or classic muscle car and about 1 in 20 will stop to help.

I had to rebuild a driveshaft. Rear let go in Holland, viewing distance from the Napa store and machine shop. $20 later, on the road again. I got lucky last year. 170 miles to baldwin and back. Lost the valve seat on cylinder 4. Made it to my stop on Baldwin and all the way home.

I've never thought twice about driving it anywhere. But I usually have tools with me.

As stated, lots of help for a bronco brother along the way.

I talked to my parents this morning, they live in Elk Rapids, about 20 miles north of Traverse City, not much snow left maybe a little in the woods but mostly just piles. Hard to believe but they said Grand Traverse Bay is still froze over. I live just north of Detroit near I-75, if you decide to make the run and need something along the way give me a shout. Sounds like a cool road trip.

OK Guys Lets plan my route. Looks like around 740 miles. I got 3 days to get from Atlanta MI to Townsend Tenn. Just did the route on google. Did the option of no interstates. I want to run the state roads for the most part. like I said before 30'' tire with 4.11 gears. Interstate is not a real good option for a long period. Running 60 getting passed by everything is not much fun. So i need a route that will work but I dont have much local road information. This is what I need. Perhaps we can piece a route together. so if you do the google map and type in atlanta and townsend then pick the no interstate filter you can see what is suggested. Look it over and warn me of any problems you might know about. Im not in love with 47 stop lights in a row.
Thanks for any help.

I got this crazy german mathematic telling me you have +/- 36 hours to make it by Thursday evening !
Get a hot shower and good nights sleep ... so you can att. the AM fri "off road ride" !

you only have to average for 36h - 20mph !!

Not sure I want to open the cabin all the way up to get a hot shower. Could be just a tad early in the year to fill the pipes with water. How about a soap dip in the thunder bay river first thing in the AM. That should get me going. or perhaps finish me off.
