want to use aeroquip, russell, earls, etc. high pressure line, with reusable fittings to make my power steering hose.

should i use -6AN or -8AN????

and who has fittings to convert AN to the 3/8 female SAE, and the 7/16 male inverted flare that i need to plug into my 77 box and pump??? any part numbers???

and before you guys tell me to just spend $25 and buy a stock replacement line, i called every parts store and automotive warehouse on the island, and there is not one:mad:

if possible to go this route, it would be faster for me to make one, than wait for shipping.

Speedway motors should have what you need, I used -6 teflon line when I did mine.

i realize that you shouldn't skimp on the fitting between the steel and aluminum ones, and i agree, what i'm asking is:

speedway, summit, have AN fitting in straight, 45,and 90 degree, ok that's fine

i want to know if there is an adapter to go from that fitting to make it standard, and inverted flare to fit my stock box, and pump.

is there no such thing as converting AN to anything other than AN, if so that would explain the looks i was getting from the guy at the hydraulic parts store.

I (and several other people I know) have had very good luck using the power steering hose parts from Speedway Motors. Easy to put all the parts together at home without leaks or special tools.

you should be able to take your old hoses to just about any hydraulic service shop and have new ones made. In fact I take mine in and they reuse my old fittings. Pretty cheap and guaranteed to fit.

Ditto that. My local Big A parts store and NAPA will both do this for just a few bucks. Better than waiting for parts in the mail by a long shot!

and theres no hose on the island

where or who has fittings or adapters to convert AN to SAE, and inverted flare??????????????

by the results i've been getting for the past two days, i'm beginning to think there's no such thing, or i'm speaking greek.

Same places that make hoses usually have a wide assortment of fittings. Re-using the old ones is done for economy or for oddball items. For a ford PS setup, I'd be amazed if a shop that makes hydraulic lines doesn't have the right fittings.

FWIW my 74 box needed a 5/8 inverted flare for the pressure and a 11/16 for the return, I got them from speedway motors 5/8 was part#617-4802, 11/16 was #617-4805
