OK I tried this before but I had no direction. Now however this thing is getting close to done so I thought I would show it off and get some good input and Ideas.

I got this thing about 3 years ago as a second vehicle since I only had a car and motorcycle and just got married.

It had manual steering manual brakes 5.5 skyjacker coils and 5.5 lift blocks in the rear, a 302 3spd with floor shifter a T shift dana 20 with no fluid in it, a dana 30 front small bearing 9 rear and 4 wheel drums.

this is how it looked the day I got it.

Now I have a 74 that I drove in High school and had a very basic knowledge of automotive workings but I had no Idea what I was in for, like death wobble.
It quickly became clear to me that everything on this poor rig had been completely half ass'd. this is where the work set it.

the first thing i did was replace the rear springs with some Wild horses 5.5 lift 11 pack rears

Then I put on some badly worn boggers and cut the fenders. Those boggers made me hate my life, I also added power steering with my own 4x4x2 box build.

This wasn't the best setup in the world but it worked until I grew some brass balls. One of the Drill instructors I worked with managed to get a 1500 chevy pickup stuck pretty good and it was late at night. I happened to be on duty so I volunteered to pull him out. I started pulling in reverse so I could see and I forgot to take it out of 4low. I just put in an Np435 too so this plus the boggers spelled the end of the dana 30.

It sat broken for quite a while then I got orders to Hawaii so I knew I had to fix it so it could go or get rid of it.

I scored a 76 disk dana 44 for 300 bucks some brand new 37" MTR's for 500 and got some west coast arms since my tow truck antics wrecked the stupid Rad arm drop brackets something fierce.

I also got a super nice hard top and 6 point cage for 100 bucks and my old roll bar "Thanks Michael!!!!"

From here it looks like this thing is going to be coming to a close in the next year or so with an Aussie locker front Spool rear 4.88 gears and numerous small changes. What has been the most challenging part about this build is that nearly every part I used is used... even the tires were mounted on a CJ5 and taken for one trip to glamis before the owner decided thy were too big. The Fancy bling bling bilstiens are new but again were bought second hand Actually third hand for the front, thanks Tito.
One thing is for sure I could not have gotten this far without my wife the bronco brotherhood or this site.

whats getting done when I get home to Hawaii

Aussie locker front with 4.88 gears

76 ford 9in rear axle with 35 spline spool rear with 4.88 gears and
4340 chromo shafts disk brakes and possibly a truss if I feel like it

GM "chevy" 1 ton tie rod ends on a tie rod over setup made with .250
wall dom tube

serpentine belt setup from a 1990 ford van

new reverse flow High volume water pump to go with new Jegz aluminum radiator

Add hiem joint to end of track bar

new cage?

design some sort of shift linkage for the NP 435 that thing is driving me nuts.

What is getting done when I get back to the mainland

dana 20 extreme output shaft

new front shock hoops and a cage that protects the engine from rollovers

PSC high volume hydro pump and res for Power steering

PSC 2.5x8 single end HYD ram assist for steering

Move rear axle 4 inches back to increase wheel base

RCV axle shafts

Ballistic Fab's "bomb proof" dana 44 ball joints

build new bumpers with tire rack and gas/cooler racks

wheel the piss out of it.

Long term what is getting added/changed

KING 16' travel remote reservoir coil over shocks front

KING air shock rear and 4 link?

NP203dana20 doubler?

advance adapters 27% under-drive unit?

38" goodyear MTR kevlars maybe 39's maybe 40"s????

You coming back to So Cal anytime soon, or you staying in Hawaii ... not that I wouldn't blame you.

I've got to do a pump to Afghanistan next spring/summer but I am willing to bet that if I ask really nice after I get back that they will let come back. I really miss the brotherhood, So much easier to get stuff done and find parts!

Hey bro if you guys make another run of SoCal broncos stickers for the windshield I want one!

br0nc0xrapt0r whos front hoops did you purchase?

Did your rear shock mounting help with wheel hopping? any problems with the shocks flexing or bending?

Ok I've got a few more weeks to get a ton of stuff done before I leave for Afghan so here goes:

mounting new shock hoops in front and rear.

Install 4.88's and and lockers front and rear.

Cut rockers and add sliders

clean up cobra motor and get it ready to drop in when I return.

Here is a teaser pic of what was under the valve covers of the cobra.

Now I am no super bronco man, Ive got a lot of help from Fungus on this one, mainly with the gears.
