Where is a good mounting spot for an electric fuel pump? I am going Explorer front dress and am trying to get my ducks in a row with stuff I'll need for the swap.

I am carbureted and run dual tanks, and was thinking of putting it down stream of the manual selector switch on the inner frame rail, but am concerned about heat from engine? I searched the forum and did not find many pics, and being a visual guy pics would be greatly appreciated.

When I had dual tanks, mine was located just in front of the 3rd body mount on the inside of my frame, no problems with heat . Electronic fuel pumps like to push more than suck . Sorry no pics.

Good luck

I have a mr gasket low pressure pump mounted to my frame about a foot foward of the rear frome cross member...you want the pump as close to the tank as possible.

The space on the frame just in front of the driver side wheel well is a good spot. That makes the suction hose for both tanks as short as possible.
If you go that route though, you'll need to replace the selector valve with an electric one and mount it back there too. Your carpet will thank you anyway.;)

Mines mounted on the frame just forward of the rear axle. No electric valve needed. They are nice but not needed. Plus I didnt want more wires.

Where I mounted it and how it's wired

There is an 8ga. that runs down the frame rail to that GM truck double isolated stud from a 60A breaker at the battery. Upper stud is hot, lower stud is fused hot with the fuse right there in a Weatherpack fuse holder. Relay exciter wire comes down the frame from the oil pressure kill switch. Pump power from the lower stud, thru the weather sealed relay, to the pump.
Eventually the 8ga. will continue on to the rear bumper to meet other power needs (trailer light relays, power points, etc.).

The pump with my FAST EZ efi system is designed to be more of a "pusher" rather than a "pull" type pump. My installers initially had it mounted on inside of rail under drivers seat but it stressed out the pump (too far forward and too high in relation to the tank) causing it to buzz loudly. We moved it back to just infront of the tank and fabbed a bracket to get it lower in relation to talk level.

That fuel filter between the tank and the pump may also be causing some grief. I know it's there to protect the pump, but if your tank has a strainer sock on the end of the pick-up the filter is unnecessary and could be a cause of vapor lock.

I would also consider placing a piece of aluminum sheet between the pump and the exhaust. Make it a little longer than the total length of the pump and mount it to the pump bracket with some ~1/2" spacers.
