Explorer Oil Pan replacement help and ideas.

I am replacing the crank and bearings in my 96 5.0 and I noticed that the aluminum explorer oil pan I have is cracked. I think I probably torqued it down a little too much at some point, or it was damaged when I got it but never noticed.
I see a steel replacement pan on RockAuto but am wondering if there is something else I should consider?? If I go to a Bronco pan, what would I need, just the pickup tube?

Thanks

Easy way is to go steel explorer pan. It has the provision for the oil dipstick tube in the rail. Bronco pan won't have that so you would have to source Bronco oil pickup, dipstick and plug the dipstick hole in the block rail.

Do you still have the original pan? If so, you can't beat that. It's the only Bronco pan there is.

Thanks for all the suggestions... Im going to start by seeing if the pan is salvageable and then make a decision, I didn't even think about the dipstick coming through the block!

HOPEFULLY the only thing that would be coming through the block! ;)

A good welder should be able to fix the aluminum pan.

On my Explorer motor I used the Bronco pan and sealed up the dipstick hole on the block. Also I had to use the Bronco 302 oil pickup tube. One additional nice thing is that you can use the Explorer oil pan reinforcement rails on the 302 pan.
