I was curious if anyone here had thought about using a heater core in the grill area for some extra cooling capacity. My current setup actually works really well. However, my temperature runs a little bit higher at highway speeds, especially when the outside temperature is 80+ degrees.
The thought is to use something like a van rear heater core. It's only about $14. Route a hose from the bypass at the thermostat housing to the heater core, and return hose to the water pump. Mount it somewhere in the front grill area.

Would this be quick and easy extra cooling at highway speeds? It seems too cheap and easy.
I know the explorer system is the preferred solution for anyone with cooling issues, especially at low speeds. I'm just avoiding the cost and conversion...
