Heater not working

Heater in my 1970 isn't working. Starting to turn cold so thought I would try and tackle it. I checked and the heater motor isn't getting power. Traced it back to the switch / knob on the dash and that isn't getting power either. There is an orange wire and a red wire at the knob. I traced those back as far as I could but couldn't tell where the red wire went. Looks like the orange wire goes to the heater motor. Almost seems like the red wire goes into the heater box. Is there anything in there that I should concern myself with? Anyway to get in there without dropping the whole heater box? Thanks.

That's it......There is a brown wire that is hanging close by and it does have power but I thought maybe it was for the radio (someone had cut all the radio wires). Someone must have disconnected the brown wire from the heater knob (top tab). Thanks!

Now I have to find a power source for the radio....haha. I assumed the brown wire was it but the heater is more important at this point than the radio.

Use the stud at the back of the ignition switch for the radio. It's hot in ACC and RUN. Make sure you fuse it.

Sharing a lesson that almost cost me the bronco. Trying to help others learn from my dumb mistake. ;)

My 5 year old was in the bronco pretending to be on an adventure when I was cleaning the garage (no keys). Hopped in and went to run a few errands in the EB. On the return trip I smelled something burning and then saw smoke at a stoplight (not good). Somehow noticed the heater fan assembly almost in panic mode and burned the CRAP outta my fingers doing a last-ditch "feel test" ... I hadn't ever tried the heater and she turned the fan control knob on. Fan was seized and darn near burned the thing to the ground...the PO may have disconnected the power on purpose. PLEASE do a function test when you connect the power and learn from my mistake?
