That’s a strange one Ben. It sure looks stamped like a factory hole. It appears to be a little tad further to the right of where the lighter would be. Might just be the pictures.....

It's actually an Explorer, and oddly enough most of the Explorers I've come across didn't have one originally including my 76 and the 73. Dad has two Explorer parts trucks and I know one didn't either, possibly both.

Your right. I forgot that Ben's 'Blue One' is an Explorer....

My 76 Explorer has a lighter....

Ben I had a mid 60’s pickup that had the throttle even though it didn’t have a pto. The truck was loaded with all the extras. Where was the truck delivered. Up north somewhere? Hand throttle could have been for keeping idle up for plowing? Just sitting in the cold. Lots of 70’s police cars had locking fast idle pull offs.

I’ve got the dash of that truck in the shop. I’ll look at it tonight and see if the hole for the throttle matches what you have.
Only other thing that comes to mind is manual choke but not in a 74.

If you really need a cigar lighter there mount one of these bad boys over the hole.

It was only included with the sport trim or the convenience package.
