I’m interested in this as well. Currently running an A9P ECU with EDIS on a 351W that’s becoming a 408W. Would be nice to keep the coil packs, cam sync, and crank trigger setup. Not sure if I’d go with the Max though, since I really like the options offered by my Quick 4 to control my 4R70W.

OK, just saw this! (bit slow) lol

Any updates? Summer is over, hooe the install went well :)

I am dropping the hammer in a few days for the Term X., ls coil packs, cam sync & crank sensor. That's the plan anyway.

Also by accident called same vendor two days ago and am waiting for Scott to lay out what I need.

I wish I had some kind of encouraging news to give you but I don’t 👎. Life has been quite busy lately and not much time for my interest. But….I should have the physical install done by the end of the weekend then on to wiring. TFS R intake gave me fits, port alignment was horrible so that set me back a lot as I had to do a little port work. Hope I can give you some good news soon. Then again, you might have yours up and running before me. Well it has to be done by Super Cel in April.

By the way, good call on the LS coil harness. I regret not going that route. Hate having to modify this harness .

For others that might be following, Scott said the TermXMax has a lot of "controllability" for the 4r70W like the Quick4 and it works well on it.

I never liked my Quick 4 honestly. Maybe I never dialed it in enough.

It's neat to see manufactures putting out ecus with transmission controllers built in!

Loved mine. It was great to be able to lock/unlock the TC when needed. Drops trans temps instantly-but that was b4 my SD cooler.
Never had an issue in a dozen yrs with cooling or the controller

Well, I bit the dust today. Term X, LS coil wiring, 4150 style throttle body, etc. Should be able to use 90% of the rest of my old setup.

Going to start removing all my Qtrhorse stuff, A9l's, A9P's, & selling Jchips, etc, etc. tomorrow. Cut out and flatten the cowl for the new Term and see how this all goes together so I'm sure I'll be asking for help from all that have done it before. (sure appreciate it).

I'll put my install and all my Q's on my build list so I can keep track of it.

thx

Finally got it going after a year of trying to find the time to finish it up. As usual, it snow balled. Terminator X install turned into a rewire of the entire Bronco. The 55 year old wiring was starting to worry me a bit and had a few electrical issues during the firing up process so why not just rewire the whole truck:ROFLMAO:. Still working out a few bugs but all in all it runs great. Having some issues with IAC valves. Seems they dont make a dependable one anymore. I have been through 2 so far. Does anyone have any reccomendations for an IAC for a 351W running a 93 mustang throttle body. I am currnetly using a 2000 Explorer 5.0 IAC but cant find a motorcraft and all the aftermarket seem to be junk. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks

Nice looking installation!

I have the same intake on my 408, getting everything to fit, even with a body lift and glass hood, took some doing.

As for the IAC, welcome to my world. I went through two in short order right after I got my 408 running a couple of years ago. The first, an official Motorcraft part, lasted about a week. The Standard Motor Parts unit that replaced it lasted maybe two days. Run, don't walk, from those. I've got a Motorcraft one on there again that has gone several thousand miles- I think I got it from RockAuto, though I see they no longer carry the Motorcraft one. I'm using an Explorer version because the connector on the Mustang part ran into the oil filler on the valve cover. Too bad because I have a few old, US made Mustang units that are probably fine. I have no suggestions on where to find a good one. Seems like everything everyone makes for the automotive aftermarket these days is junk.

What valve covers are you running? They look good. Simple. And the oil filler is a lot further forward than on my Ford Performance covers. Hmmm...

Yeah, the IAC has been a major bummer. Tuner worked on cold starts for hours and just couldn’t get it right. Turned out to be a sticky Delphi IAC. Like your self I bought a Standard and it won’t idle under 1700 rpm. Have a Motorcraft coming from a 1997 F150 with a mod motor, we will see how it goes.
Valve covers are these https://lmr.com/item/SVE-6582B-K/86...TNoxdclWYV4lB-yb3MffMvcwLlvwkR38aAhuFEALw_wcB
They fit well, low profile and still fit roller rockers with poly locks.

The Ford IACs are flow direction sensitive. They will bolt on either way, but internally they can misbehave. There are 3 different styles, some put the coil on the vacuum side of the airflow, others put it on the fresh air side. The fix might be as simple as flipping the IAC around, or if that doesn't clear than get the other style that does.

You had me worried for a moment, but a photo of my engine (it's 15 miles away and I'm stuck at home) reminded me that mine is installed on the throttle body in the same orientation as OEM Explorer 5.0, as is LA Trucker's. I wish it was as simple as that, rather than the (lack of) quality of aftermarket parts everywhere these days. Arghh.

The Camaro one I am now using supposedly has a separate coil for each direction (in & out).

I know the TermX has a proprietary connection and wired for the Holley IAC which is stooopid expensive.

Since the IAC that came with my TB failed b4 it ever worked, I went with what is readily available at most parts stores.

Clarification- the wiring for the IAC on the TermX is proprietary for the Holley IAC.

We wasted a good 30 minutes of dyno time troubleshooting that the unused, brand new IAC was bad.

Thankfully, the tuner/dyno guy had the Term X wiring diagram for the IAC that showed the Chrysler/Holley/GM wiring schematic so we could switch the wiring on the plug first, then determine that the IAC was bad by using a light that lit up when he triggered the IAC thru the Term X ecu and then we knew the wiring was then correct. Then I could see that the IAC would close but not open back up when triggered.

I bought the GM Camaro IAC, plugged it in and we had vacuum on the top of the TB port that pulls atmospheric air into the IAC.

Then it was back to tuning.

Hope this helps.

Is there any way to tell the intended flow direction of a particular IAC valve???

So I replaced the IAC with a Motorcraft CX1874 and changed the IAC frequency in the Terminator software from 600 to 315 and idles great now. Anyone doing the terminator you will find people saying to use 2 different frequencies. Some say 600 and some say 315. For me 315 works much better. Fingers crossed that the Motorcraft IAC holds up.
