Howdy - so my Commander 950 has finally reached end of life, after a bazillion hours of tuning and granted a bunch of trouble free years I lost not only the laptop to run the Holley software a few days ago, but my patience as well. The 69 is having issues related to either the current tune or a failing sensor, but I no longer have anyway to get into the computer and after several days of trying to get a 32bit windows OS (Think win98) installed on something I am just about done.

The 950 stuff is currently installed on my 69 with MPFI running on a 400 with a ZF, looking at keeping the MPFI setup and moving to something like the Holley terminator to leverage some of the parts I currently have. I realize only Bill and Roger have probably made this leap, but any feedback on this move?

Full disclosure - I have a brand new 408W stroker + built 4r70w (Manual valve body) sitting in my shop to replace the 400, but really wanting to get the 69 running for the summer/fall - the 400 will migrate to a ford pickup later so the terminator would just follow the engine/trans.

Thanks! Glad to be back on CB...

I just completed this swap about a month ago. And would be more than happy to help.

When you convert to Holley Terminator you can keep sequential multiport injection when you use crank & cam sensors.

I have slowed in writing up my Step-by-step instructions of how I converted over with the help of guys on here (who know more than I do).

What ignition do you have as I am running, wasted spark and since two different Holley phone tech "specialists " kept telling me that you can't run wasted spark from one module, etc you don't want to ask them!

I have my Term X controlling my 464 sbf with a 6r behind it.

I am currently running a Mallory distributor with a ford TFI module, Mallory Coil and HyFire 6a ignition box on the Ford 400 engine with the Commander 950.

I somehow recovered the laptop yesterday and got connected to the 950 computer, looks like the o2 sensor went bad - again. $300 from Holley for this specially calibrated Bosch sensor :(. Wonder if I can splice in a wideband 5 wire bosch sensor for now and call it good enough to get by? I really don't want to dump more money into this commander setup. Anyone have a 950 o2 sensor they are not going to use :) (NTK or Bosch)

Still considering swapping EFI systems if the new holley ones don't mainly rely on proprietary Holley sourced sensors and such? Do the new systems use factory (Ford and Chevy) parts?

Just to be clear, I would love to drive my 69 bronco this summer/fall before finally swapping the engine and trans that have been sitting for three years so if I can get the 950 setup to run good enough until late fall then that would be ideal so that I can get the new EFI parts together for the 408w replacement. However, If the 69 is a paperweight, i would consider upgrading to a Terminator setup if I could get it sorted and installed quickly.

I have decisions to make it looks like, but appreciate advice and guidance as I have been focused on the racer for a while :)

I am running as many GM sensors as possible so I don't have to pay $259 for a Holley sensor when the gm one is f49.

ONLY thing I don't like about this setup is the dang O2 sensor. They use the crappy one in the TermX and the good ones (like I used with my Moates-thanks again Garry!) are saves for the Dominator & HP. :(

Hard to justify over $1Grand just for that as I didn't need all the other Dominator extras.

Thats great to hear. More off the shelf parts the better.

I did have an extra o2 sensor and wideband controller and that along with 3 hours of computer time I got the 69 running well enough for now and hopefully I can enjoy the bronco for a few months before i tear it apart for god knows how long!

I think what i will do is start a new thread for my 408w EFI build out here shortly to consolidate things! Appreciate the input, thanks
