How to get the distributer to seat?

Final update on what my problem was. Come to find out the problem that was keeping my distributer from seating all the way down had to do with the length/design of the aftermarket oil pump shaft. The particular shaft that the motor builder installed is not compatable with the newer distributers on the market. The newer distributers have a slightly longer snout on them that is supposed to help get the hex for the pump shaft to engauge befor the cam gear engauges. This is supposed to make it easier to get things to line up. This particular combination was keeping my distributorS from seating all the way down.

After cutting off 1/4" of the extended snout, my rebuilt distributor will now seat all the way down.

So in the end if I need to replace my distributer I will need a hack saw, file for cleaning up and a steel gear..... Cluster $^@%
