Installed toms 340 lph in tank pump for my pro flo 4 install. Does anyone know if this fuel pump has a check valve installed? I called toms earlier this week and they were supposed to get back to me but never heard anything.

While the body is off it would alot easier to add one inline if I needed to.

Was randomly watching a matts garage episode where he was trying to figure out why his fuel system wouldnt hold prime and was running that tank and pump and added an inline check valve that seemed to solve the issue. Wasnt sure if he just got a bad one or if I should go ahead and add one.

dont have an answer for your specific pump,, BUT havent seen any intank pump in the OE world that didnt have a check valve .. dosent mean they hold pressure indefinitly some hold pretty long ,but some vehicle test procedures have a pressure drop over a specified time , anything after that is not considered bad BUT have seen same vehicles both pass the test but one does drop to 0 after extended time as the other dosent so ...

but looking at toms site , looks like they use Tanks inc fuel pumps and going to there site seems to be GPA series 5 pump is what you have .. maybe contact them for more info..

I also never seen one without. But I have seen them go bad. I've used them as part of a dual tank setup. Both pumps ran into a single fuel line. Whichever pump had power was the tank I was using. The off pump just held shut the internal check valve.

I had a 95 F250 with dual tanks. The check valve/pump failed on one tank and got pressurized by the other. I found out when I went to fill the bad tank (not knowing) and got sprayed with pressurized fuel. The bad pump tank was full.

That also had a funky return valve setup. There was no true valve, but somehow the return knew which tank was pump (or was supposed to be pumping) and allowed return to that tank. That is more likely the failure. I only had to deal with it once when trying to delete a tank and had a hard time stopping the return flow. Thought it was a bad selector valve until I found there was no selector valve and all the line had tees in them going to both tanks. All factory
