Increased braking power?

I must be missing something. How does a spacer and longer braking rod increase braking power?

i'm thinking more like "decreased master cylinder stability"

I'm not sure is it makes any difference but Ford did put this "spacer" on the later EBs. My 77 had one from the factory. It was still hard to push so I put a brake booster on mine.;D
