Installing the Lokar throttle cable for EFI conversion

I have been reading a lot of posts and threads about the throttle cable and bracket (Duff's, BC Broncos etc...) during the EFI conversions etc.

However aside from a few pictures of the installation of said cables, I am just not clear on how this cable installs.

I have the stock pedal and bell crank, and I have the Lokar cable from Duff's with the bracket.

I am just trying to verify from someone else's experience how this comes together. Mainly at that firewall. Do I remove the stock bell crank and hardware? How does it attach to the pedal? Anything else I should be aware of?

My EFI is from an 86 Mustang not an Explorer. I don't have a kick down either.

I know that this all may seem elementary, but I am just gathering the experiences of other folks that have done this before, so I do not spend a few hours tonight scratching my head asking WTF?

Any pix or or .02 would be appreciated.

OK. Thanks. That answers the first part of my question.

I have not really studied the cable and bracket yet, but I am assuming that there is something securing it to the firewall(?). I am using the same hole as the initial linkage (as opposed to drilling a new one)? Again this may seem elementary if I lay this all out, but I am trying to alleviate any uncertainty so I can move past this step and onto the next phase of my conversion.

Yeap it will secure in original firewall hole then connect to the petal, you pretty much got it figured out, then attach to the bracket and throttle on the other end

Excellent, this is what I was hoping it was...Thanks
;D

I will remove the linkage tonight.

Then after that I get to drill the hole for the harness. Yay! %) Really looking forward to drilling into a firewall that was recently patched and repaired along with a lot of other panels.

Yeah. That's the one. I should have said holes since it is actually two holes merged into one. The pattern in the RJM Harness instructions is very helpful though. I toyed with the idea of using a weatherproof box on the inner fender to mount it in the engine compartment, but I am pretty certain that the heat would eventually kill the ECU, and I am not inclined to have something be unreliable, so I am going to mount it under the dash.

I got a lot of great ideas about this from a thread that I posted on here a few months ago.

Thanks Airbur.
That really drives it home. I can clearly see how it all fits now. I have to check my current setup tonight though. I think that I am missing the part that the cable would clamp down on. I know that my linkage is incomplete or missing something, just not sure exactly what. I need to study it more, but now that I know how it goes, I am a lot farther along than I was an hour ago.

Don't hesitate to call us(DUFFS) if you run into something during installation. We are very knowledgeable about our LOKAR stuff!

Make sure you selected the right cable. It differs depending on which throttle body connection you have. Also, you will need the bracket and an EGR spacer with the 2 bolt holes for installation.

I am glad that I got the answers that I was looking for so fast. I have to pull out or cut part of the insulation panel on the back of the firewall (that I just replaced) to reach the bolts for the bell crank linkage. However it should not be too difficult if I take my time.

I am not sure about the kick down cable in your case, but there are a lot of discussions on here and elsewhere. Feel free to hijack this thread, as I got the answers I need.

Airbur - Is this meant for WYBRONCO's post?

X2. It's not that bad guys. Once you get it laid out you will see how easy this install really is.

Thanks guys, mine is actually for a carb and should be pretty straight forward - was wondering about using the existing firewall hole mostly.
