After this picture, the winch cover came off and the cable came out.

yes it is, good eye! The trail is wheeler lake, which is North of Empire, CO. Of course, in thinking a little more, there are LOTS of structures like that near Idaho Springs...

Wow small world, I have relatives that recently lived off of little bear creek road just south of Idaho Springs. They had a huge beautiful log cabin at like 12,000' overlooking a valley to the south. I remember visiting in the winter and going up those switchbacks with 12' snowbanks on the sides.
