I have had it with my set up!

Got everything back together and she fired right up. Got the timing set and took her out for a drive and all was well. I park her in front of my house for about 20 minutes.

I hop back in for a drive and she starts fine. After about 15 seconds she just shuts off and won't restart.

I have had it with my ignition system and I want to switch out my MSD crap for Ford factory parts.

So what do I need to change it all out. I currently have a pertronix distributor/ MSD box and a MSD blaster ss coil.

Thanks for the info.

if the pertronix is stand alone, just try it that way.imo the msd is usless for non hi-performance set-ups.it is just follow whats happening now thing.if pertronix is not stand alone, pass it off on to someone else and get one that does.

If you want to go all Ford you'll need a Duraspark distributor, module and some wiring. Actually instead of a whole distributor you can get by with just the distributor guts from the base plate up and swap them into a Ford points distributor.

Your dist should be stand alone. That coil you linked to doesnt replace a ignition box but if your dist is stand alone it will work. But really your blaster coil should be fine.

And we're assuming you know it's not a fuel problem?
And yes, your Pertronix will fire your coil without the MSD box. So at the very least you can disconnect the MSD and see if it cures the issue.
If not, you can check the adjustment of the Ignitor in the distributor. And make sure that the Ignitor is getting a full 12 volts, and not less, as from a resistor wire.
If that doesn't do anything, you can try the different coil. I'd borrow a known good one though, before I spent another dime on a new one. If that's possible to do.
If that doesn't help, then you can try the different distributor.
I like the Ford setup, but there are more wires to mess with and they're not completely free of issues (as with any ignition) either.

You guys have verified that there are not any broken wires or other electrical gremlins causing his troubles I assume?
I think we've talked about if before, but naturally can't remember any details. So sorry for any duplicate questions.

BTW, he has a pertronix billet distributor he's thinking about matching up this coil with.

So there's one distributor in the engine now, and there's a new billet distributor just waiting to go in?
Then why is it not in?

Or am I mis-reading this?
