Alright, I thought this would be pretty straight forward, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I've got a 1" block spacer under my passenger side rear leaf spring that I'm trying to remove.

I thought that by supporting the passenger side rear frame and lowering the axle tube on the passenger side that it would separate the spring from the axle tube. But that's not happening. I've got the shocks unbolted from the axle mounting points, but the driveshaft is still connected. Should I disconnect the driveshaft? Should I remove the u-bolts from the driver side as well? Any tips or tricks to get this block removed?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, the spring has a center bolt which either fastens the block to the bottom of the spring, or the block is just stuck and can be knocked off. I think it could be knocked off. Try putting your jack under the spring near the axle. Good luck

Hey Ron, the center bolt is in place, so I know I'll need to get everything up over that. The issue I'm having is that the axle tube isn't separating from the spring. I just disconnected the driveshaft and I'm going to drop the entire axle tube while supporting the frame. If you have any other suggestions, let me know.

Thanks

The block is probably stuck/rusted into the spring perch on the axle. Maybe on the spring bolt too, if it's not fully bolted that is.
Most blocks do not bolt directly to the springs, but it's not unheard of either.

Can you post up some pics of this thing?

Got it off. Ended up having to drop the entire axle tube (literally) to get it off. Luckily the entire housing didn't hit the concrete - just the passenger side and from what I can tell, the dust shield took the entire impact. Got it straightened out and all looks to be good now.

Strange though because it looks like the passenger side is still higher than the driver side.

Your jack stands are under the springs. This all by itself would be one potential source of inconsistencies. Not that you can't also get an accurate measurement or comparison, but the results would always be questionable until either the stands are under the axle again, or the tires are back on the ground.

Lookin' pretty slick there. Lots of work you've done so far.
But did you get any shots of the offending block in place? Or what was involved in getting it off?
