Been lurking around for awhile, figured I should introduce myself and what I'm working.
I have a few 65-66 Mustang builds under my belt and my new fiancée wanted a early bronco. So being on a Police officer salary and paying for wedding stuff I have a limited budget. I knew I was going to have to piece it together. I started with just a bare frame from a 71. had some rot but nothing I couldn't fix for $600.
frame was blasted and I painted with chasse saver
I'm reusing the stock suspension right now just to make it a roller.
I found a set of 1976 F100 full width axles moved the spring perches to get them mounted, work on steering later.
That kept me busy from march to may.
While I was doing that I was able to track down a c4 and j20 combo a few hours away from me that will work best since she cant drive a stick.
In July I was able to track down the 66, not really the year I wanted didn't want to deal with the limited parts for the 66-67. but the price was right.
I had sat in the woods of Tennessee for 15-20 years I was told. the floor pans are gone but the rockers, door jams, firewall, and the crossmembers under the pans were solid. frame is in good shape and it also came with trans and transfer case, that will probably be up for sale soon.
Its grave we pulled it from
getting ready for the 90 miles back home to Georgia.
clean out
tare down, think I broke off every bolt from rust
found a box of 44 mag round in the driver air box must have fallen in at some point in its life
started repairs last week got the core support, the inner fenders, and front wheel wells repaired. got all the replacement pans ordered and started cutting out the old pans this weekend.
so final results should be a teal with white trim vintage look beach buggy but with a small lift, full width axles, and white steel wheels.
I have a 5.0 HO motor to put in it. taking off the factory fuel injection and running fitech injection (have fitech on my 66 mustang with a 302 and love it)
going to be a mall crawler for her but going to make it capable if need be.
