I have a two part question. A few years ago I installed JD front double shock hoop system that came with the 70/30 shocks. I am now replacing them with JDs extended single shock tower with there ms2020. On there web page there is a pic of the 2020 'upside down' or chromoly shaft on the bottom.

First question, does anyone run there ms2020 'upside down'? I would assume it would work because it is on the web site.

Second question, I also have duel 70/30 in the rear. Can I run ONE ms2020 in place of DUEL 70/30's?

I would normally say to at least give Duff a call, or pm member Monster Mike here on the forum.

But I have a related question about the decal or logos on the shock. Are they oriented to read correctly in one direction only like the Bilstein shocks are?
In the case of the Bilstein shocks, some of them mount with the body down, while others mount with the shaft down.
Which one is which is not left to second guessing because they put the decal on at the factory to read correctly in only one direction.

Good luck! Hope somebody here has an answer even quicker, but the Duff office is probably still open and answering the phone.

Or are they…😉😁

Yes, exactly what I was thinking about the logo's. They can only been seen if mounted with shaft down.

There install video clearly shows the shaft to the bottom. This is the front with a stud but the eye to eye shocks will be the same.

So what about my second part question? Replacing the duel 70/30 in the rear with one ms2020

Given that the application is the same (early bronco) whether to go dual or single is entirely up to the user.
There are some reasons to have dual shocks, and you may still desire them, but there’s nothing that says you can’t run a single shock per corner just like the factory did.
Specially, with the new better shocks than we had available back in the day.

And because you have the mounts, you can always add a second shock. If you feel it’s needed after using them for a while.
I would run a single at first and see how you like it.

I would not give a second thought to replacing with a single ms2020. There was a time dual shocks were cool and some applications required it, that time has passed. Unless your off-road racing and using a bypass shock with a coil over that is the only reason to do that today.

I agree with the 'used to be the cool thing to do', but like you said, the shocks now a days are so much better. Like DirtDonk suggested I might run the one shock before I hack off the second shock mount to see if there is any difference driving down the road
