I am about to install my cam synchro, so I wanted to fill the oil pan up and get the oil pump primed. I saw the whole counter clockwise and drill method. But my question is can I prime it now and not run the motor for a few months?

I think since the oil pan is full of oil and then priming the pump it should stay primed but then again I've done this. I can't seem to find anything other then priming it right before firing it up any advice? I was even think maybe I prime the pump and then load up the synchros bushings and gear with assembly lube. I don't think I will be firing this thing up until the end of summer

I beleive the oil pump sits under the level of oil in the pan so it should stay primed but please share your thoughts.!!

The pump should stay primed being submersed in oil. But, everything else will drain down. It would probably be a good idea to re-prime the engine a couple of days before startup. Is this a rebuild? If it was put together with assembly lube, best to leave it until you are ready to run. Don't want to wash the assembly lube out of everything.
