Oil sender close to header

My oil sender is about an inch away from my header. I have the BC bronco Saginaw ps pump and bracket and short tube headers. I used the extension tube for the sender and needed to rotate it slightly past where the sender sit vertically this pushed it closer to my header. This was due to the ps pump sitting slightly further back. Is an inch of clearance enough for the sender or should I add a longer extension tube? My sender is about 2” inches diameter

Lots of people have made extensions for the senders on different vehicles, with different accessories.
That said, I can’t think of any reason that heat would bother it under normal conditions. And an inch seems like just about enough, perhaps, due to the constant airflow from the fan when the engine is running.
The head tube is really hot right there, of course, but I would just run it that way and see if it causes any problems.
Sending units are cheap.

Does anyone know exactly how a pressure sending unit functions internally? I’ve never had one apart, and never looked at an exploded view or diagram.

Pretty sure they have multiple generations and different inners. The real early ones (electric) were a bellows that moved a potenimeter. Think mechanical gauge moving a TPS from an EFI engine. A newer one I accidentally broke open had a computer chip inside of it.

Wow, a computer chip! A pressure transducer? Wonder how accurate and consistent they are, given imported crap these days.

I've never liked those stock pressure sender extensions. I almost always remote mount the transducer and run some 1/8" copper tubing between the engine and the mount for the transducer.
