Forget about the money part. What harness is better?

Whichever one requires NOT cutting all of the Bronco connectors from the body and chassis. My brother bought a Centech from a Bronco Vendor, and is having to cut all the connectors (lights, column, under the hood etc...) and replace with GM style connectors. Not much in the way of instruction either. He is an electrical whiz, and its giving him fits.

Painless is top of the line. Centech manual is confusing, poorly written, and doesn't even include a full diagram.

I looked at both and decided on Painless - there is no doubt that both will work well, and that both do require the installer to do final cutting and connector install on many of the wires, but the Painless kit is IMO a better kit.

I had heard a lot of people complaining about Centech harnesses being hard to understand and how it is hard to follow the manual.

I have absolutely no experience with Painless, because I didn't want to shell out that coin. But, I did go with the Centech. There is some cutting involved, but I in no way see how it was that hard to follow. I even have a different setup with my aftermarket EFI system, and I didn't think that it was too bad at all to get everything wired up. The Centech is a very nice harness that has everything labeled on the wire for you. I thought it was pretty straight-forward, myself. Maybe I just have a newer version, or something.

I just can't see how Painless could be so much better that it warrants the drastic price difference.

Got mine from WildHorses. They run a $100 off coupon from time to time. You can also look on Painless site to find a coupon.

I did not like how I had to "double back" the passenger side firewall hole wires on the later bronco 3 hole firewalls. It created lots of unnecessary bulk under the dash. If you have an earlier model that most of the wires come out of the driver side firewall hole, that is not an issue.

Other than that, no real complaints other than price. They have tech support. Call them up and a real English-speaking Texan answers the phone and your questions. That's worth some thing to me and their instructions are by far the best.

I bought mine from WH as well, but before the $100 rebate. The instructions are good. I only had one question and I too was pleased to talk to someone that could speak English.

Bax,
I had no problems with my Centech install and knocked it and one of Ryan's EFI harness in two days.
I do wish I had a few more circuits like the Painless. I may add a second fuse block soon just for my add ons.

I have install 3 centech, 1painless & 1 Ron francis

painless would be nicer if it was not one size fits all broncos. It does cover all years broncos and how the wires exit the firewall which makes it bulkier IMO. I would rather have every thing exit the cab on the left & right firewall.

Both harnesses require some kind of connector to be put on for the lights, I prefer the weather packs and do not use the other type.

Ron francsis is the most flexable and customizable in the bunch, lot of cutting & termination going on here.

Best bang for the buck out of the 3 is centech.

I always open up each harness and do thing my way on all the harnesses.

Randy. I did a search on here and found a guy you recommended for buying the Ron Francis stuff from. I can't even get anyone to talk to me about the RF stuff. You call you get to leave a message. great support there. The centech looks OK but I am not thrilled about changing to GM connectors. It looks like the only place to buy the painless is WH. They seem to have the best price. I am mad at WH so their not getting this order. Looks like it may be a centech if ron francess wont call back.

Looks like you can buy it directly from Painless, as well. Summit racing also has a listing for the 66-77 Bronco Painless harness.

I did the painless harness and I am not the smartest peanut in the turd. It was very simple, but my EB is swiss cheese so routing was wherever I wanted it to go. I really liked all the extra accessories on the painless block and that it came with all the factory replacement switches.

Check the ship date on the summit order. A full 2 weeks before it ships.

painless will sell it to you but they break it off in your arss. call it dealer protection.
