I'm going to have my Logan front bumper and my rear Protofab bumper powder coated. Your advice is needed; Gloss black or Semi Gloss black?. My Bronco can be seen in My Garage.
Mine is similar I went with semi gloss. Love ur bronco is that a ford color? I was trying to get a very similar color when I paint mine one day. What color code is that
For once, it's a tough call for me. I almost always prefer semi-gloss in an application like that. But with that Ginger color, I've seen glossy stuff that looked super sweet.
Maybe if you post up some pics of your rig with the bumper in full view, we can make a more educated guess?;D
The color is Copper metallic.
Here are a couple of picture of the bumper, the first one is after using black silver bullet. The black paint has begun to fade showing the silver bullet underneath
The only top I have is the STC top. Thinking of going with the black BC broncos down the road
Is a fair price 175 per bumper?
$175 is high for a simple bumper like that. I do them for about $100.
Both glosses will look great but if you go high gloss see is they will do a lower gloss base with a high gloss clear. That will help prevent scratching the color coat and "hide" minor scratching in the clear. Some of the cleat powders can be buffed out if you get light scratches in it.
Now the lower gloss say around 50-60% is more like the chassis black most use on their frames. The trend lately at my shop has been 20% gloss. Not quite flat but not super shiny either.
If you opt for no clear coat ask if they can do an epoxy primer first then the color coat. I use that process on all the Coast Guard stuff I do and I've got stuff out on the boats for six to seven years now with no issues.
Good luck which ever way you go, it will look great in any of the shades of black!
As Doghows said, definately have your shop prime it with an anti-corrosive epoxy primer before color-
We do as much satin black (20-25% gloss) as we do gloss black in our shop. I also recommend gloss hammertone blacks on bumpers and rock sliders. Lots of choices!
