HOLY OIL BARGES BATMAN ! That's a not a tank , it's a tanker !

Is the EFI upper painted body color ? Looks similar to it , I don't think I have seen that before (other than the standard reds , blues , blacks , aluminum, etc) , nice touch.
EDIT :
Opps never mind , didn't see all of the pics before i posted ... it's golden AND body matched , golden ... which is fitting for the way my Bronco hits the checkbook ! LOL

Yep, I painted the upper and the oil pan Lime Gold to match the Bronco and painted the cover plate white to match as well. I was painting the engine bay for this project anyway so I painted the intake, oil pan and dash while I had all of my painting gear out.

Hey Casa

First (on topic) - I also have the V6 Exploder radiator I just installed with my Exploder Serp drive (and Astroboost). I covet thy Astro-van mastercylinder - because my 70s Vette Mastercylinder Cap is leaking like thru the cap... damn - but it was cheap... Are you worried about trying to "cool" your PS fluid with 200F water? My Bronco runs 200F-205F at the moment - using the exploder mechanical fan. I currently use a simple 3 or 4 pass single tube PS cooler mounted to the front of the rad - I'm thinking that trying to cool from 90-100F air is still better than 200F water...

Second (off topic) - what did you use for a lower rad hose? I have a 2 inch body lift and I bought the 99 Exploder V8 hose - it works but it has more of a kink as makes the 180 degree turn out of the radiator. I've shortened it maybe an inch at the rad end - but it is still kinked

Third (off topic again) - my exploder pump is really noisy and I can't seem to make it quiet with the Lee fitting and by using real PS fluid (not the Mercon V I started with) I'm running the stock explorer plastic Res - and I can see the fluid swirling in there...

Trans cooler is in cold side of radiator. Probably max of 140 degrees. If it gets up to 200 you got bigger problems.

I previously ran an external cooler like you have and never had any problems. The idea behind the radiator cooler is to remove the clutter from the engine bay. I believe it will work at least as well as the air cooler did because you can sink more heat into the radiator than the air ( or so I'm told ).

On the radiator hose, I believe I used the 6 cylinder hose but can't remember for sure. I know it was an explorer hose and I'm running a similar body lift. I have an old thread on here someplace with the details of what I used. I'll try to find it when I'm on he computer instead of my phone.

On the pump, I'm not sure. I run the stock explorer fitting and have never tried the LEE fitting. I'm using a junkyard pump and it has never been noisy but others have not had the same experience. Maybe the Excursion pump conversion is in order in your case or perhaps your fitting is causing restriction / noise. Someone will chime in on that. A lot of folks on here have more knowledge about the pump issue than me.

Thanks - I'd be REAL interested in what lower hose you use - but your rad looks like it is higher than mine - the outlet on my radiator is about even with the frame - and the only way I can see to run a hose without kinking is to run UNDER the frame (it looks like your hose runs ON TOP of the frame - correct?

I understand that an oil to water cooler has more potential to remove heat - if the coolant is reasonably cool - but has anyone measured what PS fluild/hydroboost oil temp gets to when you're wheeling? Does it get to 200 or 250 or ?? I also have those V6 Exploder trans cooler fittings staring at me - and it would be real easy to eliminate my cheapy PS trans cooler on the front and plump it into the rad. I think I'm going to install a 160 stat and see how cool I can run - I have a 195 stat now - and it controls right around 200 (according to me cheapo water temp gauge)

I think my PS Pump issue is the pump itself - I replaced it and don't have the noise - but this pump is "weaker" - I think it's time for a pump rebuild at PSC or West Texas Offroad... See my other thead on PS Pump Woes...

I looked it up in my notebook I keep of my conversions and I apparently do have a V8 Hose. I'll go take a snap shot of how it looks for you and get it posted up.

Well - now that I've dragged this thread way off topic.

Your radiator must be mounted at least 2 inches higher than mine because your lower hose is WAY above the frame. I have a 2 inch BL - how much do you have? I guess the other difference could be how high you mounted your V6 Radiator - I mounted mine so that the top two mounting bolts just catch the top of the core support - this also seemed to center the rad vertically over the Explorer Mechanical Fan.

Or am I missing something? I think I gotta run the lower hose UNDER the frame and back up to the water pump outlet - or move my radiator WAY up....

And THANKS for the Pics !

I believe you are correct about the radiator location being the big difference in our setups. I welded mounts to the core support that extend above the core support a bit. You can see the mounting tabs in the photos from when I was painting the engine bay.

Yep - that would explain it. Did you move it up to line up with the Mechanical Fan on the Explorer Assy Drive?

I have a 2 inch Body Lift, and I think that my shroud is pretty centered over the fan - but it is somewhat close at the top, so I could go up maybe a 1/2 inch - which would mean re-doing my lower rad mounts - and adding tabs like yours - argggggghhhhh

My radiator is not positioned to line up with the shroud. When I did this I had never seen this radiator used before in a Bronco. I had only heard that someone had done it. My lower radiator mount is built off of the factory lower mounts and thats just where it ended up. I looked at moving it when I was painting the engine bay but decided to leave it as is because I did not like having that much of the radiator hanging out below the grill. Given your hose issues, I think moving it would have created as many problems as it solved. My goal when I did this originally was to be able to use off the shelf hoses without crossover pipes and such. I accomplished that so I'm happy with it
