Problem with Aussie Locker install

I went to install my aussie locker today. I Put the thrust washers on the 2 side gears and stuck them in the carrier, then I put the spacers over them like the instructions say to do. After that I drove the pinion shaft in. there is supposed to be .006-.020 play btween the spacers and pinion shaft. Mine has zero. It fits so tight the gears wont even turn. I tried puting it in 3 different carriers all with the same result. Anyone else run into this problem? Thanks.

Are they old or new thrust washers? You may need to get them cut down or get thinner ones. Mine was too tight as well, didnt look like they were bent or anything but I got a set of new ones and everything went right into spec. I know Dan Wheeler on here had some issues with his being too tight as well.

Mine was tight like that too, but when it was assembled the center gap was correct. It works great! PS the company is excellent about responding to questions so I would give them a call.

Not sure what could be the problem, I used my old thrust washers and I was within tolerance. The first time I tried to install the pinion shaft it wouldn't go all the way in, and it drove me crazy. I called and talked to the Aussie Locker owner (great guy with great results) and come to find out there were some Toyota parts mixed in with my kit. They sent them to me pretty quick and everything went together fine. The Aussie works great also. Good luck.

I had the same problem only worse. I couldn't fit the cross shaft in at all  I even tried the aussie in my second carrier. Same issue. My thrust washers were .032. I took the washers over to a friends shop and sanded them down to .018. Then a few minutes on a hone to make sure thay were flat. It's a PITA but you have to get that clearance.
