I did some searching and I couldn't find what I wanted. I'm sure it's in there some where but ther's so much. I'm going to moving to cali for the summer to intall security systems and I need to do an efi swap befor I go for gas milage reasons. What i'm wonering is what is the best car to get a motor out of?
I've found plenty of info on how to do it but more would be great.
What problems am I going to run into?
Any idea of how much it will cost?
What should I look for good and bad.
Thanks in advance!

efi swap

I am currently installing efi into my 77EB. I got a sweet deal on an 91 HO roller motor out of a Mercury Cougar XR7. The most complete and comprehensive information I have found is at www.fordfuelinjection.com

There is loads of information along with shopping lists for different budgets. Hope this information helps you as much as it has me. "Thanks Ryan"

Good luck ;D

Best?

"Best" depends on how you define it. At this point for me it would mean a MAF SEFI setup modified to work with the 426 stroker I'll have someday, including a chipped A9L, etc, etc, etc. good for 500HP or so. Meanwhile I'll make do with the stock Mustang-style EEC-IV MAF SEFI that's running pretty well on my 5.0 Explorer motor.

If you are retrofitting to a stock 302 with no mods, then a speed density setup off an older non-HO Crown Vic will run nicely and will likely be a lot cheaper to buy and install than any of the Mustang stuff. With scrounging you can probably do it for 300 bucks or less. It'll run upside down, give good fuel economy and throttle response, and though the speed density setup doesn't handle engine mods very well, it's a good match to the stock EB 302.

I've read somewheres that there are a few applications that put the pulleys and accessories closer to the block than most, leaving more room for a goodly sized fan 'tween the water pump and the radiator. I don't know all the specifics of this but I think T-Birds and Econolines are good for this
