quick one.
Can one take off radius arm cap without taking off spring? I want to check out the degree of bushing.

I'm sure it's possible but doesn't the lower bucket have one bolt in each side of the radius cap? Also, it might be kind of sketchy if the spring is under tension to only have one bolt in... I would just take the spring out... only the top retainer left and it's pretty easy to do.

Thanks... trying to take easy way out. Have no caster and am replacing bushing, but wanted to know what degree before ordering.

If you unload the front end and support it on frame stands, you can pull the front bolt that drops through the lower spring bucket and into the cap and then remove the cap. Given how much fun it is to work a wrench through the spring with a limited swing, I think the easy way is to remove the spring, however your results may vary.

Agree totally.
Easy enough to unscrew the bolts, lower it some more and let the spring just hang there while you remove the cap, but a quick loosening of the two bolts in the bottom, remove the top clamp and a quick twist of the spring pops it out.
That way you don't have to lower the axle as much (or raise the frame as much, depending on your point of view) and, as Apogee said, you don't have to sit there fiddling with the lower bolts so much.

I just recommended the hanging method to someone today on the phone, but didn't have time to go through all the options (and kind of forgot anyway).
Either way works.
