I have done it. Tools needed, air chisel, grinder, welder, hammer and dolly. Some use a door skin tool for removal. Cuts spot welds and peels edge off.
I precut the old skin off. Air chisel the edges off. Hammer and dolly flat. Center old skin. Hammer and dolly edges up and around edge. Tac weld edge

if you have hand grinder grind edges it will split, then if you have small abrs cut off wheel grind spot welds inside jam peal back, + a box of bandaids. just my 2 cents. as putting new skin on 3m makes a 2 pt adhisive to attach skin to frame works great. you still have to dolly edges. does make a rust proof seal around edges.
