For the guys running D44s, are you worried about breakage or have you broken anything? I don't want to go D60 and have 4340 Chrome moly shafts for my full width D44 I'm building with 37s.

I used to blow hubs, one axle joint then went RCV's and slugs haven't busted anything since.

I broke an axle last year, first break since 2009 when I went up to 37s. I was running Yukons with super joints. The axle broke because the joint had a dry cap and seized.

I've had pretty good luck with mine--I've never broken an axle or u-joint in the front. In my case I think the reasons are:
1. I have an automatic transmission. Manuals are a lot more punishing on the drivetrain components.
2. I don't have a huge amount of horsepower. Its a mostly stock 5.8L SEFI.
3. I try to drive with finesse rather than driving it like a wrecking ball (you guys know who you are! LOL)

I have chromo axles with the Spicer U-joints (not CTM's or some other type of super-joint), full width.

not too bad so far, easy on the skinny pedal.

did upgrade up front to the RCVs, so that helps a lot.
