• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

Funny thought!
If someone had the identical build ,minus the fame attached to it, the jackasses would be allover it badmouthing the "ridiculously high price"

Thats what I mean, you would laugh me off the boards if I put something with that price tag on here. The thing is, you are paying for the "Stacy David Built Bronco" more than you are the Bronco it's self. And as I said, I am sure the thing has lots of money into it, but there are only about a dozen people in the US who could command that price, and he is one of them.

I guarantee you guys that there is someone out there that would pay that price and more just because it was on TV. Even though they wouldn't know anything about it and would never drive it. *Sigh* Rich people... (That's envy by the way, lol)
I don't have the money, but I would take it if someone gave it to me. :)

Prediction... while everyone's busy posting about Purple paint jobs on this forum, a car collector somewhere is going to buy this Bronco, and next January it'll sell at Barrett Jackson for double Stacy's asking price. The good news is that everyone can then post how $37,500 is a fair price for a Bronco, but $75,000 is too much! Stay tuned.

The diff is that we all saw what he did to it and where he got the components. The guys on ebay with the high $$$ rigs you are taking their word on what they did to their rigs.

once again I suprised by many EB owners who just arent that informed, contact a custom builder of cars/trucks etc, ask what it costs to due a "frame off" build, (ballpark).. you will be suprised !! having spent alot more than 37k and selling mine for more than 37k, this is a good deal.

I would buy it.

Crazy Horse is actually where I'm getting a lot of my ideas (or tried to at least, haha) Stuff like the spare tire carrier, and at one time, the transmission/shifter, until I decided the NP435 was better suited to what I want to do.

Being informed and being realistic are two different things. Stacey can command this price, YOU can't. I don't care if you do have the reciepts to show that you have $37k + into the project. YOU, and don't take this the wrong way, as a nobody won't get that price unless you (a) meet someone who really wants what you have or (b) has that kind of money to throw around. I have been around custom builds all my life, I have done or helped with frame offs on 3 pre 1950 Willys CJ-3A's, 2-1955 Chevys, 1-1956 Chevy Station Wagon, 1-Fiat Spider, 2-EBs, 1-1974 CJ-5 and am in the (slow) process of doing a 66 Mustang Fastback. I know what custom builders charge and I know what it takes to do the work yourself because I do my own work. Building cars isn't cheap by any means, but being realistic? That goes with common sense. Why on earth would I pay $37k for that rig when I know I can have the identical rig for less because I can build it? Not to mention good old econ 101 says that an EB doesn't carry that price tag UNLESS someone of Stacey's caliber builds it, like I have said a couple of times before. So being uninformed and realistic are two horses of a different color.

History lesson for you-free-Lets go back to 2001, I sold a restomod '77 for 25k that was a frame off-made the rounds on at that time the email list called EBML-you could imagine the comments about that price in '01. Very nice but not super exotic parts by today's standards. I would put the body work and paint up against most of today's higher end ebs. SEFI 5.0, wild horses suspension, bla. bla bla. Last year I pulled my '68 trail rig from an ebay auction when it was within $1000 of its reserve-bid was mid 34's and had 2 days left.. Its "build and mods" are in my gal.-no need to bore the board with a list.
I watched and enjoyed personally the evolution of the eb Mtfit had built-fantastic rig-crowd draw every event it went-guess what it sold for more than Crazy Horse is listed-wait he already posted that-I guess you missed that before your post I quoted.
mtfit is not Stacey David nor am I but we both have/had ebs that commanded high prices.

Maybe it is just the builds YOU are involved in that don't command such high prices.

With that out of the way, Let me give a nod to a very modest person who imo is the king presently of high end restomod ebs. NixTrix rigs define high end restomod ebs in 2007 :)

I'll second you on that, Karl! The EB world will be quite surprised to see all the cool mods and peerless fabrication on Nick's latest projects. He's definitely taking vehicle builds to a new level and a new standard in our little world.

X3, I have heard of several EB's selling in the 65k and up. I also heard that the Bronco with the mod motor went for around 65k. Rumor has it that Rocky Roads sold one in the 100k range. I think there are several people in this world with the funds and tallents to pay whatever he or she wants for any vehicle. If you do a top notch quality build on any EB and no matter who you are, you should be able to easily get what Stacey is asking for his.

Too much to quote, but to start, I do remember that EB you did making the rounds on the EBML, I got it and I thought more power to you back then and I still do. With the exception of 1 of the projects I have done (the 56 Chevy Wagon and the 'Stang I am working on), NONE of them were ever "Top Show" vehicles. They weren't built that way, but the were frame off. Before you go off the deep end again, maybe I should clarify myself (which I thought I was doing in the first post I did) for you and mtfit, I am saying the average joe cannot get that for his rig unless he has done something spectacullar (sp?) with his rig. Now, honestly, as I said in my very first post about the truck (which I was defending the price on it) do you think that I, ME, could get that same dang price that Stacey David is going to get for it? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Why? Because of name recognition. That particular truck is buildable for a lot less than the 37k that the asking price is, IF you do the work. Is that truck worth it? That is definatly up to the buyer. As most guys on here have said, if they had the money, they would buy it. Hell, I am about half way there my self in that same mind frame. BUT, what my original statement was, the average joe isn't going to get that price unless he did something great to his truck because he doesn't have name recognition. I stand by that.

Now as for the builds I have done, 12 years ago when I helped my dad finish that 56 Wagon, Danchuck Mfg. offered him 40k sight unseen on the thing, just a couple of pictures to go off of. It has also taken trophies in several car shows and won awards, most notably the Good Guys show at PPIR 2 years ago. But that vehicle was built for that.

That reminds me, you guys add up what your parts cost, but are you keeping track of your time? I know I'm not, and time is money. Even if you are not a qualified mechanic, I would add the time/cost of me working into my Bronco if I ever sold it (Lord willing I won't ever have to). I would add at least minimum wage. Am I right or am I totally wrong in this thinking? This may be a little off topic, but it just sort of popped into my brain...that happens sometimes. lol

I would think that the proffessionals are doing this when they build and sell a Bronco.

Fair enough-the 56 sounds very cool :)

Has it sold yet? I have the recap and the payoff on my phone (Treo) for watching while my wife is shopping or bored at work, you know those times while dreamin about the Bronco. Now I just pull out my phone and watch Crazy horse being built then out playing in the mud. Man if I had the money it would be mine.
