Hi there,
Almost a couple of months ago I posted on this forum looking for some help in keeping an eye open for my Bronco - stolen from a mechanics shop in Calgary. (Engine rebuild)

The old expression ā€˜The Mounties Always Get Their Manā€™ held true in my case - it was recovered yesterday as part of a very large theft ring.

What have I learned?
1) there are great people on this forum - Iā€™m thankful to those people near and far who offered to stay watchful
2) keep your insurance current. I had an appraisal done four years ago, and because of the appreciation of these vehicles, recent work done, and the strength of the US$ vs Canadian$....what I would have been paid vs replacement value would have been 10s of 1000s short.
3) ā€˜there ainā€™t no Bronco but your own...ā€™ looking at others for sale and comparing - itā€™s clear mine has flaws and isnā€™t perfect, but it represents a labor of love over the years, and you remember all the work youā€™ve done and improvements made. A new one wouldnā€™t have been the same?

Anyway, thank you again and I wish you all the very best.

Doug in Calgary

Itā€™s a bit an interesting story? Truck, after getting an engine rebuild was being stored in a car trailer in the mechanics side yard. I couldnā€™t drive it home in March in Calgary - roads are covered in salt and snow. Anyway, three trucks smashed through the yard gate, hooked three trailers up and sped off. One had a classic f100 Truck worth quite a bit. The RCMP recovered one trailer that was abandoned after a month. Anyway this past weekend the thief tried to store the trailer (with bronco inside) in a trailer storage park. No so bright.... The lot attendant called the cops as something didnā€™t feel right...

Truck has some paint damage and some other nonsense but all in all itā€™s great.

Iā€™m hoping they donā€™t put the guy in prison, castration or a public stoning would work just as well...!

Hearing this made my day, so happy for you. You must hurt from pinching yourself..... That first drive will be beyond amazing.;D. Iā€™d be treating that lot attendant to one heck of a dinner (whenever that can be).

I vote for public castration, where I live ( southern cal is much better than northern cal)
He would have to commit the same crime 5 times and then get a free hotel room. Because of the undo mental stress he endured..
Sorry for the rant I am done for now

That is the best ending to a stolen truck story I have heard. Glad you got it back! Fantastic! Castration is too good, how about being drawn and quartered between the vehicles they stole with the owners driving! I guess you could add a fifth vehicle for the castration part!
