Thinking of putting in a NV3550

I found an NV3550 from a 02 Liberty 4x4 with 60k miles for $350.

1. Is it a fir price?
2. Will it work well behind a moderately modified 302 (300hp)?
3. How reliable are the NV3550s?

are you sure it's a NV3550? hadn't heard they used it in the liberty. but i'm happy with mine, and i have a hurst shifter which makes it even better. i did blow one up, was maxed out GVW rating on it. but i've heard of people running 450hp with them. i'm about 340 lb ft of torque with mine, and do get hard on it.

if it IS a 3550, $350 is a steal!

$350 is a steal if it's a 3550. I plan on putting one in mine down the road, way down the road...

Sounds like it's a really good deal if it's in decent shape.
I have an NV3550 and I've been really happy with it. Shifts super nice and has good gearing. Seems pretty tough. Even though it's not as "bulletproof" as the ZF or 4500 there's plenty of guys that beat the piss out of the 3550.

if you can remove the bell housing, thaan it sounds like a nv3550 if the bell housing can't be removed not a 3550

You mean a 3500 if you can't remove the bell housing I believe.

Typo I'm sure however ;)

Just to reiterate the steal it is if it's a 3550...

The best deal on a used 3550 I've found is about $750 and those have close to if not over 100k on them.

I was wondering that myself... I was hoping that an NP205 would mate up with an adapter.
