Well I finally got it running pretty good, now I am stating on the drive train. Two wheel drive is not too bad, maybe a little transmission roar(3 speed). When locked in high or low there is quite a bit more roaring. Its not too bad at lower speeds but if you drop the three speed in neutral and coast at higher speeds the worse it gets. Does this narrow it down any? Would this indicate the transfer case as the culprit?

I think I would check the oil level in both boxes then drop the oil out of the trans and divider box and check for metal. keep the oil seperate too check. Check both diff the same way

While it's always a good thing to change the lube, 4wd in these things is pretty loud. They all howl pretty good due to the straight-cut gears.
Is this noise you're talking about different from before? Or did you start your restoration right off the bat, and have never had your EB in 4-wheel drive before?

Got it in January and pretty much started working on getting the motor tuned in. Never really looked at anything else too close. Its really in pretty good shape just some worn out parts. I believe it has a Duff lift and Duff kit for the floorboard shifter, but everthing is a little old. This is the first time I have fooled with the 4-wheel drive. The sound(to me anyway) makes me think of a bad bearing. The transfer case is hard to shift, don't know if that is a indicator of anything. I did jack the whole vehicle up and crawl under it while it was running in 4 low but didn't hear it then.
